  • Colonization II Project

I've posted here before but I'll do it again...we're currently looking for people to join our team attempting to do the sequel to Colonization!

We're still in very early stages of development but type of people that we most need are C++ programmers..if you want to take a look and post any comments, feel free!

i got it to work, but apparently it doesn't work through my network here. i have to use the host computer to connect to civgaming.net. i've only had this problem with one other site out of hundreds... pretty strange.

          Curious

I'll poke around at your link, but I'll ask this anyway: What do you want to improve about Col1? It's hard for me to imagine. More players, more customizability? Surely it's not just a graphics thing...?

If I were in charge of a Col2 project, I would reduce micromanagement (unloading boats is tedious) and make it easier to profitably *expand.* Or at least make the AI prone to expand. I think the Col1 map is too big for the amount of land the AI, at least, actually settles.

Er, what I mean about expanding is: It should be easier to create an empire that looks like the 13 Colonies. I don't think Col1 encourages that.

We're basically expanding on the game, fixing things such as you mentioned, along with adding multiplayer and custamisation abilities.

It's pretty similar to what Civ 2 did to the civ-series, it managed to improved on an already great game.

So you haven't recieved an injunction order from Hasbro/Microprose then? Or did you ask them for permission first?
Destruction is a lot easier than construction. The guy who operates a wrecking ball has a easier time than the architect who has to rebuild the house from the pieces.--- Immortal Wombat.

I've tried to get in contact with them but never got a response so we're leaving it for the moment.

there's nothing wrong with doing a fan project based on a commercial game. you don't HAVE to call it Colonization II do you?
