I thought it might be interesting to read a story that shows what might have happened if Captain Garland wasn't assassinated and everyone landed on Chiron & flourished as one group. I'm not willing to write this story, however, because I'm not sure that I could do it as well as a regular contributor, and I'm somewhat busy with school So Kassiopeia, write this j/k

So Kassiopeia, write this
I think this has been done before. I have recollection of reading a story about the Chironians with Capt. Garland (or at least the mission hadn't gone to pieces). Besides, I usually need a bit more then a one single idea for a story.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Oh come on History, it has been a while since this happened the last time.
I have crystal clear memory that I read the 'Unity made it' story from the Centaurian Tales at www.apolyton.net/smac . I just can't seem to find it anymore. Blah.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

IIRC. LordMP suggested a story along those lines and everyone debated and only one story was ever written. But I can't remember what it was and it's not in the AC news page. Can anyone help out here.
BTW, just because its been done doesnt mean it cant be done again.Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

It's just that the thought has rarely crossed my mind and I have little ideas about it. It'd turn out pretty boring, I think. A story can't be carried out interesting with this idea alone. It needs more stuff to it.
When people read a scifi story, the main reason for them to read it is usually the characters and their adventures, not the new ideas or technological gimmicks (even if they'd try to deny it).
They are just there to make the author more comfortable and to cover plotholes. Well, I guess there's more then that.

The story's toasted like charmon1 a day ago (posted two I hate Apolyton -threads with that login, then one with a DL ).
1. EvilTwin's last post was in March 02 = He could be dead for all we care.
2. There are no links to any website related to him.
3. He's (or "his", ermmm?) webspace (where the story was placed in) is gone (closely related to 1.))
(what's with all the brackets?)
Therefore, unless someone has a copy of the story on his/her hard drive, it's gone for good.
Gets me a kinda eerie feeling. The story's lost in cyberspace, but it still exists - in a way - in our memories. I'm getting all existential now.Last edited by Kassiopeia; August 18, 2002, 12:00.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. I thought I read it in the SMAC section (apolyton.net/smac or, the old address was I think civilization.gamestats.com/smacor something like that). This is really weird. Although I suppose it's to be expected in cyberspace (damn computers! Damn the Internet! BURN IT ALL!!)
And I really believe we need a :smirk: smiley.Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

Leave it to Kass, the Master of Writing!
By the way, Alinestra Covelia, who's that girl avatar? She seems familiar somehow, a cartoon or a book or something?Geniuses are ordinary people bestowed with the gift to see beyond common everyday perceptions.
