Has the maximum post-length been reduced, or was my last chapter by far the longest? I had to divide it into two posts to make it fit.

20000 is the max
when you put your text in the reply box there is a utility at the bottom of the box that allows you to check the length of your message and tells you the max.
It looks like this

I've had to use it a few times
