Fungal tower? That's what you call 'em isn't it?

I got bored and so plotted out some AC Fiction I couldn't be bothered to turn into a story. It has happened before. Aren't you people worried about me?

    The Fungal Tower Story

The Data Angels have founded a new base on the border with the Usurpers. The area is heavily fungused, and to the west of the fledgling 'Moonshadow' there is this fungal tower. It is affectionately dubbed 'Jock's Itch' for my own amusement.

The governor of Moonshadow is called Jefferson Parfenov. Since the Data Angels aren't really ecologists, (being all Morgan-like and Free Market one would assume) and so they kind of leave 'Jock' alone. It is to be noted there are no other fungal towers in DA territory at this time.

Except one brave professor, a Dr. Kepler Fang who teachs some students at the main college in Moonshadow is a keen environmentalist and gets the governor's permission to take out some students to see 'Jock'. These are mostly geeky 20 year olds, but with them is Jacania Parfenov - Jeff's teenage daughter. She is taught with the geeks because she is at their level being all genetically enhanced because the Parfenov's have money. She is also an empath in training.

So on this field trip Jacania believes she is contacted by the fungus, as in Cha Dawn style. Her young empath mind is unruly and unstable, so everybody put it down to a mental delusion.

They return home, having studied 'Jock'. But Jacania believes the fungus needs her help. Being a rich spoilt brat she bribes her servants to steal a recon rover and head out for he own field trip with them. She is also carrying empath equiptment stolen in true DA style from the Cult of Planet.

They arrive at this fungal tower. They try to probe it. It does not respond. When Jacania tries to interface with the fungal erection, she triggers it's implosion.

Now, normal fungal towers do not implode. But this one totally caved into itself, scrambling sensor sweeps of it from the Moonshadow perimeter. It turns out this was no ordinary fungal tower. It was an organic laboratory left by the original Progenitors. Over centuries the Planet adapted the laboratory into a fungal tower.

So, anyway, Jacania had heard the voices of Progenitor mind stuck in this organic laboratory, downloaded by a mini experiment by the original Progenitors.

Jacania's servants include a Cyborg. His brain is modified to encapsulate one of these Progenitor minds. The result is this Progenitor becoming a coporeal human. I've called him Fetallak.

The laboratory cannot be salvaged, but an organic chip is placed in Jacania's fertile mind at Fetallak's request. We don't know what that chip contains.

The troupe flee 'Jock's Itch' and head out towards a neutral Unity Base, a small outpost held by Cyborgs. The reason Jacania does not return home is that she is convinced her parents would kill her.

But back at Moonshadow a team is assembled to go search the remains of the fungal tower. These include allied Cyborgs. A lot of information is collected.

To cut the plot short, it turns out Fetallak's laboratory was a insurance left by the old Progenitors to ensure should Manifold Six (?) ever be recolonized, the precious Manifold experiment would be terminated, for this manifold harbors a terrible secret. The specifics of which are on that organic chip. I mean, Fetallak doesn't know what it is because he was only a soldier under the Progenitor regime.

Jacania and co. are unaware of Fetallak's hidden agenda. Back at Moonshadow, with constant spying, they begin to uncover things about Fetallak and his evil agenda. The termination of the Manifold experiment would involve destroying the manifoild's link to the portals all over Progenitor space.

I assume Fetallak is stopped in all this, but I really should have considered what the terrible secret was before posting this.
