    The Diplomacy List
    UPDATED: 1/27/00
    * = updated from a previous condition in the last month

    KEY:
Unknown: comlink information for this faction is not known
No diplomacy: comlink information for this faction is known, but no contact has been made

    PREFIXES:
Uneasy: this relationship is weak and subject to change
Military: this relationship exists to fight a common enemy
Friendly: this relationship exists because this faction needs help
Teritorial: this relationships exists because of land issues
Ethical: this relationship exits because of soical engineering choices

All prefix information has a comment to explain it.
NOTE: The prefixes don't mean anything when it comes to what the treaty does. For example, an uneasy treaty is the same as a military treaty for terms of trading. The prefixes just give some background on that paticular relationship.

Well, this never caught on. Since we have so many factions, I was hoping all of the writers would post any information here. This thread was to be a huge datalinks entry to find pretty much any type of information about the story. Since we are nearing the time when all 14 factions are on Planet, this will be invalable to sort everything out.

Crossfire writers, feel free to post anything here. I have updated the Diplomacy list and have added some Drone base info, council members, and national holidays.

Non-writers, please keep any questions/comments/suggestions/complaints in the "comments" thread so this isn't cluttered by anything except information. Thank you.

    Drone public Datalinks

    Free Drone council members

    Foreman Domai - Faction Leader
Governor Hain - Free Drone Central Governor
    Mr. Malcom - Diplomacy Messenger
    Foreman Jeffred - Construction Foreman
Miss Atlasia - Research Team leader
Supreme Commander Rockmore - Military Commander
Chief Newman - Internal Security Cheif
DINOP 'Venus' - DIN Commander (DIN - Drone Inteligence Network)
Captain James Sheldon - Cloudbase Captain

    Base Information

    Free Drone Central

    Size: about 60,000 (population 6)
    Current task: Perimeter Defence
Location in Free Drone Nation: Near the top of Mount Planet
Notes: This is the Free Drone Nation capital, and also the support base of the awesome 'Cloudbase Accademy"

    Worker's Paradise

Size: about 45,000 (still popualation 4)
    Current task: Formers
Location in Free Drone Nation: Near the west coast of Mount Planet,
safely out of the way of the war.
Notes: This is the 2nd Free Drone base established. Due to it's location, it is safe from outside assaults, and it using this fact to increase it's own production capabilities

    Living Standard

Size: about 35,000 (still population 3)
    Current task: Conventional missile
Location in Free Drone Nation: East coast of Mount Planet
Notes: This base took a lot of damage during the Drone/Cyborg war. It is also where the Peacekeeper fleet arrived.

    Coral Warehouse

    Size: about 10,000 (population 1)
    Current task: Sea formers
Location in Free Drone Nation: oceans to the west of the mainland
Notes: due to many sightings of large ships far from the base, Coral Warehouse probably very close to a Pirate base.

    Freedom's Foundry (formerly Iota Station)

    Size: about 20,000 (population 2)
    Current task: Recreation Commons
Location in Free Drone Nation: across the north seas, on the edge of the Cyborg contient
Notes: A captured base. Was captured by an impressive manuver by DIN OP Commander Venus.

    National Hoidays

Liberation Day (freedom from the Hive and the birth of the Free Drones)
Alphaprime Day (first day that the drones lived above the surface of Planet)
Peacekeeper Day (the appearence of the friendly peacekeeper fleet)
New Thanksgiving (similar to the old Earth holiday)

      Data Angel Faction
      Crossfire writer : Cotroneo

      Current Council Members

      Sinder Roze (head of Council)
      Raptor
      Beetle
      Zebra
      Spirit
      Junior

(Virus)- former council member who was beat out by Spirit during last election

      Cities

      Secret Hollow
      Base Population: 2158 individuals
Current Production: Build up of Satallite Information and Capabilities
      Science: Nondecisive
Notes: This city is protected by an advanced Cloaking generation Field, making it invisible from outside sources. It also conceals heat, 0/CO2 Production, Electronic Emissions, Borehole Cluster

      Important Items
The Borehole Cluster, orginally discovered by University science teams working inside Spartan Territory (they never told the spartans about there discovery) During the chemical attack on University Base, the university faction withdrew all its science teams from Spartan territory. Thus, the data angels moved into the area, secretly during their own respective Civil War against Tomahawk. The University has yet to send any unit to investigate what has happened to the site. Although they have been sending satallites to look at the area, but nothing has been confirmed about their findings.

Another important Data Angel note, is that during the exploration of the Borehole Cluster, three battle ogres have been discovered. Under the head researcher Zebra, they have been brought under control, and are just beginning to be able to used in a combat role. Also, Zebra has placed local cloak generators on these Ogres(due to the massive energy source aviable), which are very similiar to the large field cloaking Secret Hollow.

      Lost Bases:

      Data DeCentral (controlled by Peackeepers/University)
      population:45,000 individuals
production run: none due to massive destruction in past battle with PK and UoP
      science:none
Note: the Leader of the base, Tomahawk is being held captive in a secret Peacekeeper, waiting trial on the attack on University Base. (although actually ordered by Sinder)

Government: Six Advisors: Three military and Three Civilian.
        Military: Captain-General Lady Jane Steppleton.
        Intelligence: Lieutenant-General Nguyen Zhu.

Industry and Construction: Senior Administrator Andanti Khotar
Energy and Trade: Hum.Dr. Etienne Leclerk

        Social Model: Democratic, Green, Knowledge.

Notes: The cities are too many for me to go into any details. Suffice to say, they are pretty well-stocked and -equipped, relative to their population. Expect at least children's creches and recreation commons in all but the smallest, or newest (Like Data Decentral).

Same goes for the people of note. They are also many, since that's the way I like it. Some, like the gang of Drones, are only infrequent visitors..yet. Stay tuned.

The Crossfire Tales – brief overview
NOTE: Comments on this are welcome. This may change as details are worked out.

          Chapter One: New Faces

Earth was dying, and humans had only one option: leave. The starship U.S.S. Unity traveled from Earth to the Centauri system to populate the alien world Chiron with the last remnants of humanity, uniting them in happiness. At least, that was the plan.

However, the shortsighted UN of old Earth could not be prepared for what happened in the skies above Chiron. A mechanical failure caused many of the vital occupants to awaken in order to repair the ship and maintain order. Naturally, the humans began to squabble over who got what, and a full-scale battle broke out on the Unity. Even the oppressed working class rioted in what has become known as the great Drone Rebellion.

Eventually, the warring factions realized that they must board the landing pods or they wouldn’t be aboard in time to make Planetfall. The battle ended almost as abruptly as it began, and as the leader of the misguided mission died, they were free to pursue their destiny beneath an alien sky.

Without most of their technical information and mechanical aid, the seven surviving factions were scattered into the four winds as they randomly fell to the surface. On a grand “L-shaped” continent, three factions crashed. In the north of the “L” landed Lady Deirdre, who began her mission to coexist with the planet and named her country the Gaia's Stepdaughters. In the southeast of the “L” landed Yang, Chairman of the tyrannical Human Hive and between them fell Brother Pravin Lal, who is trying to unite all the factions under the charter of the original UN mission.

To the northeast of this continent landed isolated Morgan, stowaway on the Unity and founder of Morgan Industries, which is dedicated to a life of luxury at any cost. Poor Morgan has not even been able to explore his entire continent due to the mysterious disappearances of his patrols in the east

Other side of world landed the last three on one giant continent. In the southwest, Zakharov founded his University of Planet, which is dedicated to pure scientific research, and in the northwest is Sister Miriam Godwinson, leader of The Lord's Believers and defender of the faith. Colonel Corazon Santiago’s Spartan Federation fills the entire east of the continent.

Confused, alone, and wondering if any of the other leaders survived, the factions cautiously began to build and expand their colonies. It was around this time that they encountered the first of the mind worms. These life forms didn’t use fangs, claws, speed, or raw power to attack like many brutes the humans were used to. Instead, they use a powerful psychic attack to freeze their targets in terror, burrow into their brains, and plant their young. Obviously, several years after Planetfall, even the mention of one of these attacks was enough to scare many citizens. Only trained military personnel could resist the attack long enough to use their weapons on the native life forms.

As the nations grew, they also began to run into each other. While Lal and Deirdre signed a pact to ensure peace between their people, other leaders weren’t willing to do so. Three grand wars began, and have not ended since. Lal and Yang got into a dispute over proper governmental methods and declared Vendetta. However, land has hardly been exchanged, and the war continues to be fought on the original borders for the most part. Miriam and Zakharov resumed their conflict over the true power in the world: God or science. Their war has been more bloody, with the University having taken several Believing bases. However, the Believers have more to lose, so the war will indeed be a long one if one faction is to be totally conquered. Finally, Morgan and Deirdre also got into an ethical Vendetta, this time over treatment of the environment. However, a vast sea separates them, and that war has had almost no true battles. Of course, neither side has captured any bases.

The Spartans alone do not have any Vendettas. Some factions respect their well-trained armies, some are too afraid to face them, and others are too wise to commit to a large-scale war. Because of this, the Spartans have become one of the leading powers on Chiron, with a massive army to back this fact.

This continued until M.Y. 2235. In this year, the chances of the factions being united again looked slim. The old wars will still raging, diplomacy was becoming less diplomatic and more demanding, and nothing appeared to show any signs of changing. The factions were beginning to believe that this would continue forever, and no one would be conquered. That is when they made their move.

Morgan’s covert operations network, dubbed the Data Angels, grew tired of Morgan’s ruthless methods and blatant disrespect for the planet. They defected, landed on the Isle of Dexamenus, and began a plot to increase their power and usurp the “old factions.” Led by the anarchist but cunning Datatech ‘Sinder Roze,’ the faction dedicated their lives to free flow of information.

For a long ten years, a high-ranking drone of the Hive made plans for an organized rebellion in retaliation to being moved out to the remote Hive base “The Drone Mound” on Mount Planet. In M.Y. 2235, he put his plan into action, and, with help from Sinder Roze, tricked the Hive into believing that he and his base had been destroyed by native life. The plan succeeded, and the Free Drone Nation was born, and they stand for the liberation of the working class.

Far out at sea, and always at night, ships would disappear. They would completely go off the scanners. Yet deep sea dives proved that they had not sunk. Something was out there stealing them, and that something was Captain Ulrik Svensgaard. Leading his Nautilus Pirates faction, he knew that the seas were the only safe place on Chiron after seeing the chaos on the Unity. He has grown a mighty empire of hidden sea bases out in the Chrion oceans, and, although he doesn’t approve, he finds himself becoming a larger part of the planet rather then a small hidden colony.

In the shadows of the unexplored Morgan territory came The Cybernetic Consciousness. Led by Aki Zeta-5, which is actually controlled by a master computer known as The Algorithm, the Cyborgs launched a furious assault on the fledgling Free Drone Nation in order to expand their boundaries. Although the war continues, the surprise assault failed, and they are beginning to be known by the other factions. They are unaware of concepts such as mercy and fear, and this makes them all the more dangerous. They wish to create a ‘perfect’ world of machines and man as one.

Finally, the last new faction emerged with a fury on a northwestern Believing island. Declaring war on both the Believers and the Gaians, they are storming the island, taking Believer bases. Faction information is limited, but the faction is said to be led by a boy that never grows older and has the Voice of Planet in his ears. This faction claims to be sent by Chrion itself, and will do anything to fulfill its will.

The new factions bring new wars, new possibilities, and new complications. The old factions suddenly find themselves with a whole new list of possible friends or foes, assuming they could find the communication frequencies from their neighbors. And littering planets surface, more mysterious then these new factions themselves, are the remnants of another race. Where they went, and if they will return, remains to be seen as the Crossfire Tales unfold…
