  • Arg, Multiplayer help!!

My friend opened up some ports on his router, so now it works!!!!

Hey everyone, I've gotten multiplayer to work with one of my friends, but two of them I can't get it to run AT ALL.

We all have SMAX2.0 and Windows XP compatability patch.
We've been trying to play over the Internet and Hamachi

One of my friends has XP, the other has Vista. The one that I got it to run with has XP.

    Help??

What ports did you open on your router? I'm having a problem where if I try to join a game, the program doesn't do anything for awhile, then goes back to the main menu. Both me and the host are running fully updated SMAX with the XP compatibility patch. We're using the latest version of Hamachi which we have used successfully for a number of other games. We can even see the game after looking for it by ip, just not join the lobby.

      These ports:

      TCP: 47624 (directx7) or TCP: 6073 (directx8 and above)

      TCP/UDP: 2300-2400

      Good luck.

That's the problem there. Vista . Have a look at some recent threads discussing Vista to see if there is a solution. I think there is certainly for SP not sure about MP.

        good luck. .

Thanks everybody! I'm going to try all the things you suggested tonight, but at the moment I gotta go to work .

I know it's kinda confusing cause I posted it in this thread, but we're both using Windows XP. I set up port forwarding to my computer on the ports for directx 8 and up and the TCP port, and it didn't make a difference, same problem...
