It's up to you, if to modify the file, that is for graphics purposes only. The factional attributes work properly, since they are saved in the sav file.
On occasion happens that Alpha Centauri.ini gets broken, but deleting it and starting the game should create it again. You loose though the settings, like Forceoldvoxel... and other.

No, the AI factions are not in the game, these are just positions on the full 7-faction list. Game engine (I think, but maybe empty space would work, as I think of it now) has to have some data there, otherwise you may get error message when loading the game: "file not found" or something. When loading terranx.exe loads initially 7 factions - just to load any - and this is how it does using Alpha Centauri.ini. Unfortunatelly, when loading save file the attributes are taken from save file, but graphics stays unchanged.Also, does this mean that there are computer factions in the game (ANGELS, GAIANS, PEACE)?

You may replace any faction name of those 7 with any other that is present in your main game folder, also that you generated - that will influence faction graphics, but not the attributes, as I wrote.Last edited by Mart; October 30, 2007, 17:30.
