Well, my timezone is GMT+1...and about the options:
I do prefer the 2 sessions...I have other things to do apart from SMACX, regretfully :P
And standard map would be best. That way the game can be done quickly enough, but it should take long enough for everyone to be satisfied.
Oh, and about research, I've alwaya played Direct on multiplayer, but who knows? If all of ye want to give Blind a try I'm ok with it.
    And simultaneous turns, of course.

I'm going to create a Skype account this afternoon, my nick will be Lord.icewind

Almost forgot! I suggest we call the game "Mindworm Jim", but its just a suggestion..hehe

    See ya at Chiron!

      I've heard about bullmaster somewhere

      about the game settings,
If think games on large maps take aloot of time for micromanagement in the endgame and It will take too much time to finish. I mean when I think of it, it takes me damn long time playing alone and I don't even want to imagine how slow it will be with 7 human players. So my suggestion is to try a standard map and after we finish it if everyone is happy We can make 1 on a large map. Anyway if we play on a large map I'm for tech stagnation since then you have enough time to plan and build.
See, when you play single player, Large seems big because AI is not spreading like human.
With 7 humans Large will seem so small that we'll probably have pre-Airpower wars, which is rare in most games

About stagnation - stagnation is useful in small maps, on big ones it just makes stuff last a bit too long and favors builder approach a lot as builders can easily outresearch everyone.

As for quiting or retiring from the game. For me it's perfectly normal that if someone is left with only 1 or 2 cities at the north pole or something like that that they surrender. By this I mean inform other players in advance and ask them if it's ok to do so.
Well, I would prefer that players not leave the during session, which means if they really get beaten, they should hold till the end.
Also, players leaving the game are not good to stability of the game so leaving should only happen when we restart.

In general, if you sign up for the game it is expected that you understand that this is just a game, nothing personal if someone attacks, no getting upset if you lose and no namecalling (though rp in style of "the hiverians will pay for this! we will crush you like bugz!" is ok and nice).

About blind research, can you please explain to me what exactly is the problem with it. That's one of the options That I always loved in ac. Especialy in multiplayer since it brings a whole new dimension to the game. I mean if you fail to get the tech you wanted and wont me be able to attack your neighbor with your new shiny weapons then it's time for a little bit of diplomacy and so on. Anyway it's quite fun for me.
Yes, it adds extra flavour, but there's a few techs, which if someone gets earlier than others, he'll be very advantaged. For example getting D:AP some 10-15 years in advance of your neighbour would mean certain death to him.

Generally we could agree to either stag or blind to be on but not both.

And why the map should be visible? I don't think it's a good idea especially if we play on a large map.
I too would rather like to have it fogged.

If you want I can host the game. I have a 10mpbs symmetric connection.
Yes, you probably should, but I guess the speed will mostly depend on SmacxVets and my connection (on those people who are technically outside euronet).

My timezone is correct. My friend's timezone is GMT0(His nick is bullmaster). Saturday sounds perfect for me since we can continue on sunday if we like.
      How about starting 8-10AM by GMT0 ?

It's early for some but good for most.

We have 3 people in skype already, others, install and post your nick here

Oh yeah, fog of war is ok with me, we pirates like to explore...about tech stagnation, I don't really like it, but as with Blind, if everyone wants it its ok with me, I've actually never tried it.
As I'm in Spain and my connection is DSL, it should be fine.
And about people quitting...well, it happens, let's just hope it doesn't happen in this one ^^

        That's it.

PD: 9 AM GMT0 should be fine, BTW..

All sounds good, as far as blind research and tech stagnation... NO WAY!

            They suck so bad.

9am start sat. GMT0 is fine with me.

That means 7pm start for me on a sat. night... no going out next sat i guess.. smacx priority hehe i think i'll play at cafe as home computer has firewall problems particularly at 7pm coz. every man and his dog will want to use it.

I also vote for standard map if i'm hive muhahaha

Simult moves should be ok. Although wars are not necessarily best man wins rather first man to attack but as a RTS player this should suit me.

I prefer visible, it just means you see outline of continents, and think about it. As we approach chiron we would wee the planet anyway! It will also speed up gameplay abit.

Ok, updated the votes, seems Standard is the map of choice now.

Tech stag is still undecided, those who haven't voted should.

                  Ok, table updated.
I suggest we don't pick both stag and blind.
That'd be a bit too restrictive and someone might get in really bad luck.

                        I haven't used Skype before.

The conference room facility,.How would it work here. Is it like IRC or live actual talking.

How can you then have one to one chats?

Ok I had a closer look: it's like a irc chat room. I presume you can then have private 1 to1 or 1 to many chats?

You can have private and 1 to many, the main differences from IRC is:
                              - history, which is stored on all participants' PCs, which means if in your absence discussion takes place in said room, you get all of it once you and any of the persons involved are online again.
                              - permanent rooms - you don't have to leave a room upon going offline, in fact noone can even kick you.
                              - no differences between private and conference chats - once you add another person into the room, it becomes conference.
                              - ability to make conference calls.

                                Ok, everyone set a reminder for 2moro 9:00 GMT0.

Preferably everyone should be in skype 15minutes before that.

H0bbes and SmacxVeteran are the only ones not in skype yet, so that should be fixed.
