  • Multiplay through internet sharing

    Recently I've been trying to setup multiplayer over the internet (with TCP/IP) to my computer which is sharing an internet connection over a crossover cable. The PC that is sharing the connection is connected directly to the router. I tried to setup port forwarding on my WRT54G Linksys router but the game can't be found.

    Anyone have a similar problem and/or know how to fix it?

    I'd really appreciate help! I SOOO need to get some multiplayer xfire going. I think I'm having withdrawals

    Wouldn't that be classed as LAN play ? (are you wanting both computers to play ?)

    If not then have you opened the correct ports on the router firewall ?
    Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

      No, I am trying to play with a friend over the internet, and the internet connection i am using is shared with another computer. I am NOT trying to play a LAN game with the pc that is connected with the crossover cable to my pc.

      Here is a diagram of my connection (hope its clear):

      ROUTER----->Brother's PC-----(crossover cable)---->My PC

        That is my problem. I have opened the correct ports, (oh, and windows firewall is set to allow xfire) but no games can be found. So obviously my router is being stubborn about forwarding through my brother's pc to mine over the crossover cable. I am just wondering if anyone knows the correct way to configure my router to do so.
