"Abandonware" is software that has been "abandoned" by its original distributor/ producer (i.e. no longer supported or sold). There are websites out there that specialize in collecting this software and making it available for download to fans. In regards to SMAX the legality of making it available for download is questionable as it is still sold on occasion by its publisher EA Games, however because it is available for download why I guess this is seemingly tolerated by the powers that be.

However, if you would like a legal copy of SMAX, PM me and I'll send it to you at cost of shipping.

Because the game is not available on a day-to-day basis from EA in single form, not a collection, i feel the game is 'on the market'(ok i have no idea what term to use here ) so to speak. Also EA dosnt seem to mind.

Yes. The last time that SMAX was offered in the "Laptop Collection" I had bought it with the idea of giving it to my cousin's kid. However he is still more interested in Warhammer and Star Wars Battlegrounds to date. So I've just been holding onto the disk.

GT is a well known 'polytubby whose reputation precedes him, and especially because of his accident, why I think this would be a good use for my spare copy of SMAX.

Sorry for the delay! Lobo's message got flagged as junk and moved to my junk folder. I did not see it until today when I was cleaning it out. I fixed the filter so this would not happen in the future.

I am just glad the message stood out! I get up to 100 spams per day.

There was one glitch on my starting position: I only had 2 scout units instead of 3. But I would not want to restart based on this.

Did everyone else start with 2 scouts or 3?

I had 2 scouts too, so no worries there.

My one glitch was that synthmetal wasn't prototyped for me, but that's not a major issue and one I can deal with.

No, I have the technology, but the armour is not prototyped. I more or less consider that to be a non issue, so I didn't mention is before.
