I voted for myself in what is likely a futile gesture-- Oh well . . . with all my early nervestapling, I didn't get any trade from it anyway

Nervestapling? See, there's your problem--you just weren't a very nice person!

I guess-- but the Hive don't enjoy much trade anyway and nervestapling seemed to be in character. Besides I only have another 50 years of sanctions to face

The consciousness on the other hand have put some of their own citizens to death and only face a remaining 9 years of sanctions

              HNN NEWS

The Hive today released a statement.

"While we are disappointed with the election results, the people of Chiron have spoken clearly and we look forward to dealing with Governor Sebp in his new role. May he rule wisely and well.

The Hive wishes for peace. Once we have eradicated those offensive cyborg man-things, we see no reason why the remaining factions cannot co-exist in harmony. The Hive would also like to propose co-operation in dealing with threats posed by two alien races ."

              ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile deep in the Hiverian HQ

"How did this happen ? HOW? The chairman was silent on this matter but I know this could not have pleased him"

"No sir-- he cannot be pleased but this election result was unsurprising. In fact it was predictable.

              "How so ?"

" Historically sir no nation has favoured one nation taking the leadership role for extended periods. Look at earth history. Important roles often passed from nation to nation to highlight the fundamental equality of nations"

"So we may hope to hold the governorship again?"

"Well yes sir. If we agreed at a later date to support the Spartans for governorship for example, we could ask for their support after that. Realtionships are important."

              "What are the practical implications"

"Economically none. Our diplomatic service will have to work harder, They have grown lazy as all the world's secrets were whispered openly at the governor's office

No problem-- I just do it from time to time myself. Your written English seems very good to me. Are you playing a German version of the game?

I'm playing the german version but many terms and especially abbreviations turn out the same, partly because the techs use international or at least western world vocabulary and partly because of germanic roots in simple english words (High Energy Chemistry - Hochenergie-Chemie).

About my written english. I know it's quite good. I'm the kind of person to say it's bad just to be praised by a Native Speaker, which i'll assume you are.

It's easy enough to learn written English nowadays; because the internet has spread the way it did, immersion is cheap to achieve. The problem that remains is with active vocabulary. I often pause to think especially about verb meanings or connotations. Like, a plan being destroyed/disrupted/disturbed(?). The first verb that comes to mind is "destroy" but i have the feeling it's not what i want. Then, i think about a better term for 10 seconds and don't find any. Next step, use an online dictionary. Find disrupt and disturb... why didn't i remember those Now, which one to choose... i'd choose disrupt, only that I BELIEVE it still sounds to strong here, so i choose disturb. I'm not sure if i ever heard of a plan disturbed though, so i search for the phrase on google.
I find 1440 uses and use it, but i'm not happy with it. disrupt would have sounded better. And i'm not sure if actually it was too strong.
For another example see "immersion is cheap to achieve" above. I'm not at all happy with that i just don't know why.

In the end, i wish i was a lot more proficient in English, or a lot less

Oh, and i STILL sometimes forget to mark adverbs as such. We don't do that in german.

Oh and what's so funny about my diplomatic service working harder
Now that i think about it, in a way it really is not funny at all

I claim the eradication of the cyborgs. I captured 2 of his 3 bases and the last was emptied and could have been captured but for the eradication bug

Sorry for the reload-- I had just opened the turn when my child acted up-- we have a 5 day old-- when I returned my Mom was at the computer and told me " I just quit that game so I could check my email"-- I hadn't done anything to that point and in fact had no pod pops or close battles on the turn anyway

                            • oh and sebp-- netwarrior has sent me his password so I can handle the elimination duties. His faction will be around for two more turns but you can just send directly to me. I will rush a scout on this turn and obliterate his base on the next

                              • understood.

Now for something else. I want to take a break from this particular game, 3-4 days or such. Thought i'd let you know so that you don't think i'm not returning, cause it's unusual for me.
I just don't feel like concentrating on this now but don't want to play my turns too fast.
