turn sent. i think i'll look into those scenarios
There are a couple with topped threads. They were ones created by Darsnan. He really likes to toy with the maps and to create units that the AI can build cheaply.
The "KIng of the Hill" one is pretty good IIRC. I have been playing "Eye of the Beholder" lately and I don't enjoy it as much- The map has ZERO key points on it and is so large that it takes a long long long time to play it
and I'll play RIG in 8 or 10 hours or so . ..

I've been playing King of the Hill--haven't beaten it yet. Currently having my best game yet but have just been invaded by Drone Shard Hover Tanks & have no answer.
Haven't tried Eye of the Beholder yet.

I did beat King of the Hill-- Eye was tougher in a sense since you start on completely arid lands-- Everything is pretty much the dunes . . .

Haven't played the turn yet, will play in the evening... however:
It seems we have sunspots as of this year. Figures
Hmmm-- usually they don't happen in a PBEM but I guess "Randomness is good"-- I know I have experienced a couple of random events so far-- Overall they tend to hurt the player with the lead the most-- although since sebp is unlikely to be trading with me I guess it could hurt you two with any tech trade plans

Yesterday, Brother SebP and UN-HQ-assembly decided to dissolve the empath guild, members of which have lately been suspected to welcome the coming of Hive troops to free themselves of the checks and balances any group as powerful as the guild must endure in a working civil society. Half an hour after the decision, civil war broke out between UN forces and a brainwashed mob.
24 hours later, the base of UN-HQ is in ruins and the empath guild dissolved. Brother SebP and most of the government retreated to UN-Siedlungsbehörde. UN-Officials ultimately blame the HIVE for the slaughter

I needed way too long to understand why my ogre was going down :-( i thought it was bombardment from ships and even though i wondered where ships could possibly be hiding it didn't occur to me that it could and in fact must have been the probe teams.

Nope-- not probe teams. There is another pretty standard way to to inflict damage on units that are outside bases-- the self destruct tactic.
If you self destruct a unit, it inflicts damage to ALL adjacent units that are not inside a base (including your own units). The damage inflicted is weapon value multiplied by reactor value ALL divided by two. Its usually not worthwhile since you kill your own unit to merely damage an opponents but since Ogres don't heal and I had an excess of units I said what the heck. But worms can fight an ogre better than equal anyway and I did have a few of those enroute as well

I guess it was only a matter of time till those rabid smurfs went completely nuts.
It is my duty to inform you that hostilities commenced today between Hive air forces and the foces of the Spartan Federation. WE had tolerated their continued and repeated presence in our waters, solely in the interest of peace. However, yesterday a Spartan warship was intentionally positioned to interdict shipments of food and energy from a Hive facilty less than a mile from our coast. This cause a food shortage in the adjacent city and was deemed unacceptable.
On my order bombers of the 14th airforce eliminated the warship and all southern and western forces went to Defcon 2. As a result of those orders additional forces of the Spartans were engaged. In particular , attempts to futher colonize the Hive homelands by the Spartans were prevented.
Meanwhile, our forces have continued to have success against the Spartans . . .
