How do you hand over a base in multiplayer?

Edit: sorry, this goes in the help forum.

You can't, except by letting the other player capture it after declaring war.

Though it might in theory be possible with Codicil using some human-AI player switches.

a qualification to what Maniac said-- you can't give a base to another human controlled faction but you definitely CAN give one to an AI using the same method as in Single player

Why cant you do the gift base option like normal? Isnt there a button for in in diplo screen? (Cant remember)
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

You can gift a base to the AI just like normal in the diplo screen by offering a gift and then making it a base instead of cash or tech

But the diplo screen for human-human contact is very different as you know and provides no such option.

I have seen this question asked before and the answer was always that it can't be done

I thought there was even an exploit where bases traded back and fourth could be used for 2x production(or how many times you traded them)

Or maybe im thinking civ2 here.

I don't know that I agree. Giving or trading bases is pretty artificial anyway. You can really abuse the AI that way by giving them a crappy base and then proberaping it

And also by trading them crummy size 1 outpost base near the front line for their uber size 14 base with 6 SPs in it.

IIRC that was an early bug that some patch along the way corrected.

Apparently something in the formula for the AI in calculating the "worth" of a base got reversed. So the more one-sided the trade in your favor, the better the AI liked it

When self moderated, its very good. for example, AI xyz colonized a island in the center of map, but i didnt want to fight for it. i make 4 CP and sail them to a nice island near me with decent resources and do the trade. one of my favourite things as it seems so realistic-along that line, i would make borders, and border claims, negotiable

                      whoops, got talking about smax2...

There is a special case, though: a simultaneous invasion that results in bases alternatively owned by two factions. Whilst it would ensure good ralationships between pact brothers, it could prove annoying among casual allies.
