The University had accepted the challenge of the Spartans. The result is 1 dead Spartan plane, 5 crawlers and a former.

The Chancellor appeared on all the networks and gave the following statement

Today marks a sad day on Planet. We at the university had enjoyed good relations with all of the other factions as recently as ten short years ago. Even our relations with the Spartans, while technically hostile, had resolved itself into a bloodless ceasefire. The university would have maintained the peace.

But recent events have troubled us greatly. The Spartans attacked the almost defenceless cyborgs and then added to their transgression by committing acts of genocide. Unfortunately we found ourself unable to intervene but we increased our patrols toward the Spartans and even announced their location. You all heard the Spartans announcement today where the Spartans rejoiced in the killing of our lightly armed patrol. We have responded with a series of precision airstrikes to degrade the industrial capacity of the Spartans. WE expect and anticipate unrestricted warfare with the Spartans from this day forth.


This leads to the situation with those that control the United Nations. I cannot bring myself to refer to them as "Peacekeepers". We had long been troubled by the UN providing key military technology to Spartans even when those Spartans were declared combatants with us. How can a supposed friend feed weapons to those that wish to kill us?

Then in a shocking announcement, the UN declared that genocide was legal as was attacking and invading another faction if one feels aggrieved by them. Then in a last shocking develpment, Governor Fosee has INVADED the cyborgs citings very unspecific grievances. Well we ourself feel aggrieved by Fosse and being a law-abiding faction we have followed the letter of his previous decisions regarding genocide and invasion. We have therfore invoked Operation PEACE. This is an acronym which means

Pacifism
Ends
And
Combat
Ensues

although seeing the results of our efforts a paradropper thought we should call it Particularly Explosive And Completely Eviscerating.

The base known as UN Humanity has disappeared from the face of Planet in a massive explosion and there have been two other UN bases which have welcomed University liberators.

People of the University . . . This actions was not taken lightly but it has become apparent that the Spartans and UN are in an alliance bent on bringing war . If university forces do not get involved now, it is quite likely they would swallow the Cyborg empire and then we would be alone on this world with two hostile neighbors.

The way ahead is difficult but with perserverance and effort we believe that our foreces can prevail. Thank you and good night.

I think that you are quite a bit premature although Fosse's empire is looking surprisingly vulnerable. Hopefully I do not face as shocking a reverse as you did in your cyborg invasion

Or bringing along adequate probe defense. I always assume that a player can raise the cash to probe stuff away. I am actually quite paranoid about it

Probes are something of a luxury when you've got to assemble an adaquate military, adaquate transportation while under a relative 3 industry penalty and attack two collaborating, high population, research bonus factions before they get air power. Not forgetting that Kirov's bases all had their own probe defender that could dogpile on mine.

I have asked fosse to replay as it appears he used a missile chopper to attack a base . My guess is he forgot the rule on this issue

Not surprising since I only sent it back to him moments before my post here which would have been 11:30 pm his time.

I hated to send it back but IIRC I lost 4 units in the base he attacked with the chopper
