OK, the updated version was just sent out to Lazurus. Unless I sent you a PM detailing otherwise, you have the same passwords. Your starting location may have shifted a tile or two as well, but generally speaking your in the same location on the same map. FYI and Good Luck!
hmm wonder if not having cent eco in first option will let me get planetary networks abit earlier

I know it's early days yet but at the start of my last turn (2102 - passed to Platy) I got the results of a battle. Must have been M/Wms, but it got me to thinking about battle reports so I thought I would ask a few questions. When we submit battle reports it is to let the player who was attacked know why their units are dead (ie, no longer on the field of play) or dying as you dont get to see the full picture in PBEM the same way you would in a straight human v AI game. Have I got that right?
So the battle report only goes to the player concerned? What about if there are other (human) players' units nearby? Surely they should get some sort of report also. The precedent being that if an AI faction attacks another AI within your unit's LOS you get to see it and can therefore assess defensive strengths in the area to some extent.
Also, when making a report is it sufficient to just say 'artillery bombardment from x,y to x,y unit (named) takes damage'? Or do you have to notify the player what the artillery piece was, etc?
And the last question for the night...is this all a bit anally retentive or am I just tired?
If the meek are gonna inherit the Earth they'll have to get in line.
battle report is this a normal pbem procedure?
think everyone can just figure out what happaned during oponnents turn otherwise

Technically you don't have to report anything because the other player will receive a report of what was attacked, where and who won in his messages.
Role-playing out the actual attack here in the forum adds abit of fun to the game though
Urgh just been really hurt by the proverbial trojan horse, dagger disguised as a blessing

I think I may have opened a can of worms here. I have to admit, I read about battle reports when I was doing my research prior to joining a PBEM. I got it from a thread relating to Civ III (Cata's head has probably just exploded there!) PBEM's so it may not fit exactly but surely the principle remains.
If you are playing vs AI alone then you get to see everything that is within your unit's LOS anyway. The nature of PBEM means that, that ain't the case.
Personally I am not in favour of forcing players into battle reports as they can be time consuming I would imagine. Just thought I would bring it up in case anyone was unaware.
I dont know about you but I often sent in expendable units prior to an attack to test out bombardment capability. If the unit gets hammered by artillery fire and then polished off by stronger units, then I know to cover my advancing units with counter-bombardment cover.
If the meek are gonna inherit the Earth they'll have to get in line.
