Glad to have both you and Hobbes on board! Players will be:

    Darsnan: ?
    Chaos Theory: ?
    Hobbes: ?
    Hercules: Cyborgs

Any specific parameters you guys are interested in having for this game? I'm interested in seeing the Marine Detachment capability being given to the 3 AI's, but its not a necessity.
I've got family from out of town staying with us this weekend, so I probably won't be online much this weekend. FYI.

Hmmm - having Probe Foils immediately available wasn't what I had in mind when I was thinking about this format, but considering with one or the other Factions getting them no more than 12 turns later, why we can probably deal with it....
Actually it would be pretty stupid of me if I exchanged tech on before researching anything and I think you know why..
So your prediction "from the very start" is wrong.

      Regarding additional growth/industry: nope
Regarding Large or Huge map I say: 52x104

          Hmm sorry, no.
I just misse this thread in the rush of things.
You already set things quite up right?

Don't redo then, I think I know a person who'd like to take it.

Otherwise, just repost you need one more person.

          Apologies.

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

Crap, sorry, I've done nothing at all for the second PBEM, I didn't see we had enough players :/

              Ok.

              I'll get to work mapping.

Anyone else for the naval? My worldbuilder is so landish that I'm going to have to change it to generate a decent base map.

Absolutely no problem, as I had originally said I planned to start in 3 weeks (due to RL), meaning we're still 2 weeks out from beginning.

Definately appreciate you signing up for this CMN job, Senethro! No rush, take your time, make a good game!

I think we have a full crew here. I'll get out the amended alphax.txt file to you with the sub and AC carrier in it. Also what does everyone think of the AI's all having the Pirates ability of Marine Detachment? Considering what I just experienced in Chaos Theory's Solstice Challenge, why it would be just desserts to him (assuming he's still intersted in playing this one)!

Here is an alphax.txt file with both a Carrier and a sub with Marine detachment in it. I'll also post the lines here:

                    Carrier, Cruiser, Transport, 8-Res, 3, 0, 4, Disable, -1, 00000000000000000010000000
                    Attack Submarine, Cruiser, R-Laser, 3-Res, 6, 0, 0, Disable, -1, 00100000000000000000001000000

The games have not started, but are full. Senethro is setting them up as I speak (um, right Senethro? ).

However, if you want in on a similar game, why start a thread to that effect, and I'm sure you'll get people to join np.

I'm pretty happy with the Naval Game map, just needs some starting position balancing. However is a huge map really practical for a PBEM, especially one that will be low in minerals.

I've a few questions about the alpha.txt settings you're wanting. When you say sea boreholes, are you wanting me to enable boreholes to be built in coast/ocean tiles? Would it be too much trouble to get a concise list of all changes you want, if different or changed from the first post.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention: I'm sure the players will come up with something (they always do)...

I threw that one out there as a sort of gauntlet, challenging players to object to it/ define it. No one squawked over it, which kinda surprised me. As far as the boreholes are concerned, why I'd say place a few across the map, in strategically placed positions. Say give everyone a borehole to start with, then throw a few into strategically placed island groups as well (i.e. "something to fight over"). However no need to edit the alphax.txt file over this.

I've been using Carriers a lot recently, both in Chaos Theory's Solstice Challenge as well as the SP Challenge that I'm currently working on. Am really looking forward to this one!

Naval game players: could I please get all your faction choices?

I will be altering the factions you play so that they are aquatic.

Hercules: There will be popbooming to size 14 from the time people get Childrens creches in the naval game. Are you certain you want to play the Cyborgs?

Puppet states: Please tell me what AI settings you want for your Puppet by post or PM. All of your pactmates will be subservient perma-pacted but I think it is appropriate that you set their aggression level and interests. If you wish to set their military strategy or that I tick the "build lots of colony pods" tag then just say.

Also, I am tempted to give all human controlled factions +1 support and industry. While the intention of the game is that you are limited to 3 bases, I see no reason to restrict your unit count as much.

As for climate, with bTs foil probe rush no longer a concern I think a super continent on a standard size map with wide naval accessibility would be a good compromise between playing to the AIs strengths and allowing the human players some versatility.

The Gaians might be fun to play in this setting.
