I sent the turn forth, but Im quite displeased that noone waited for a diplomatical introduction from me.
I believed it's a common practice when replacing someone..

And we need clearance will Shawn still be participating, so I can finally send (or not send) a late introduction.

I presume I am 'noone' (sic). In my experience there is no such 'common practice'. Indeed, I have frequently played entire games without receiving an email from one, many or even any of the players in it. There is not even a strong probablility of any forthcoming correspondence on any given turn, let alone an introductory letter in the first. In the many games I have served as a replacement, fewer than 10% of the other players have ever written an introductory letter, and about half of those were from Googlie.
Tell me, what sense does it make, coming into a game that has stalled, to wait further before resuming it on the chance that a key correspondence just might be forthcoming? That presumes, of course, that I would consider the correspondence 'key' in the first place.
It's always a hard thing to bear when one's game plans are set awry by the loss of a player with whom there was an ongoing arrangement or transaction. I've been on both sides of that occurrence; I quite understand. However, upbraiding the newcomer in the turn track is absolutely NOT the way to resolve any resulting issues.
I did my best with the limited information at my disposal not to disrupt an ongoing transaction without diplomacy while still getting the game going again. - **the reason I was recruited as a replacement**
If that's not good enough for you, binTravkin, too bad.
If the players vote to 'unreplace' Shawn or simply to seek a different replacement for him, that's fine. Until that happens, though, I am CEO of Mongoose Industries. I will no longer be bound by any previous arrangements made by my predecessor. Everything must be negotiated.
Fair warning given.
- Mong, torn between irritation and apathy at binTravkin's displeasure
Would it change your mind that this game had me exchanging around 80 emails?
(From which 60 with former CEO).
And I haven't got a single game where I haven't sent an email to other faction.
You say that you're no longer bound to any agreements your predecessor has made.
Too bad for you, as this time I was the person who was "bound" and you we're the person who was supposed to gain from the deal as your predecessor had already paid his side to me (which you finalised).
Now you cancel it, so I feel no remorse in not repaying the loan.
I've learned the hard way that diplomacy is the key at PBEMs, you just ruined my diplomacy with you.

BTW - all (human) players in this game have running deals with you.
I don't think having all the planet angry on you is a good idea at all..

Mongoose, I was in large part negotiator of the deals between Morganic faction and others, after building Empath Guild. I actually should present you the information I posses, but it would be better if each faction sends you the current deal. I was additional negotiator for:
- University - Googlie
- Human Hive - T_Ras
If noone told you that before, we held the actual gameplay for 12 days (almost 2 weeks) for negotiating that special deals allowing the CEO to become the governor.
You now control the Morganities, but playing as replacement has its special points. Shawn has a very characteristic playstyle. Girlsnightin is a game started now like over a year ago. Lazerus design here is yet still very intriguing, I hope you will have a lot fun playing it. If you like roleplaying, this is where you are most welcomed to do it, we might use it in this game a bit more. We really made contact only recently. AI are very much tweaked. We will all have problems with Mirriam and Santiago at some point I guess.
As for me, sorry for maybe little interaction, but I have recently a lot of Real Life stuff to attend really important for me and I cannot devote that much time to SMAC as some time ago. I usually have though enough time to play my turns.

No, I said I have received introductory letters from 10% of the other players in games I was a replacement.

What Diplomacy is that? The mystical and mythical introductory letter still hasn't hit my mailbox. All the diplomacy I have seen from you is a public notice of your displeasure. That is the foundation of ruin, if ruin it is.

Interesting.
First you ruin some deals in the very first turn.
I of course am displeased, just a natural reaction. But all respect you decided to finish at least one.
Then you explain all deals have been canceled.
I admit it's not wise to just clump in and cancel everything not even listening to what you cancel.
At first it's no respect to other players, at second you actually lost quite a bunch of good things ingame by doing it.
I just wanted to advise you to not do like that further, but you seem to be thinking you did everything just right.
And now you request to tell me diplomacy you didn't want at first and have almost ignored.
I, of course, understand you're eager to know what exactly you lost by cancelling everything, but Im afraid it will ruin my game even further if I tell it.
I don't want you to make any claims on me regarding past deals because, as you said, "deals have been cancelled".
It's no problem with me, I was just friendly enough to tell you lost something, that you did a mistake.
If yelling starts here I will just feel remorse I told it to you..
Now, let the game go on.
Good Luck everyone!

Seems we have a personality clash.
"Quit your planet raping Morgan !"
"Stop destroying my economy you tree hugger !!"
Back to a typical Gaian - Morgan relationship
Glad to hear you're well after that Shawn
