  • Unfinished Business turn tracking thread

This is the turn tracking thread for the SMAX 3 X 2 game "Unfinished Business".

Players in order are as follows:

ChairmanSlick - sgtslick_aus AT hotmail DOT com

Chaunk - mj_blakemore AT uk2 DOT net (although turns won't usually be sent from there)

Darsnan - dnandal AT twcny DOT rr DOT com

The lone AI is Roze, which the CMN Googlie has slightly tweaked (just how much, I'll let you know later once I find out....).

    RULES

    - Standard Apolyton PBEM Rules apply, to include explaining any reload warnings.

    - Contact is assumed to be established for the two Factions belonging to each player, meaning they can immediately start trading techs, EC's, maps, etc. Otherwise, no tech trading, etc. with other Factions until contact is established ingame.

    - Stockpile Energy Bug allowed.

Any other rules you'd like hilighted or that I missed, please let me know and I'll edit in accordingly.

    Game on!

    Good luck to all!

Yes - you'll see in the faction box that you can contact yourself as I've permanently pacted each pair

Apologies for the delay, I've come down with what is hopefully tonsilitus, but more likely is glandular fever, and hence I've been moping arround feeling sorry for myself. Anyway, the turn is sent, and things will only speed up from here I hope!

BTW, Darsnan, you should edit your first post to contain our emails...

Darsnan - dnandal AT twcny DOT rr DOT com
ChairmanSlick - sgtslick_aus AT hotmail DOT com
Chaunk - mj_blakemore AT uk2 DOT net (although turns won't usually be sent from there)

Also, I've added stockpile energy into my build queues, as that was requested as a rule on the previous thread, but doesn't seem to be down here as a house rule. If we could edit the post to specify it's allowed or, if you two are both turning mean, decide that actually it shouldn't be allowed now!

BTW, are we now allowing calls for governor as we don't have an alien AI in game now?

Actually its a genetically altered Gaian retrovirus designed specifically to attack the body and psyche of Chaunk - glad to have confirmation it works!

Up to you guys - I'm not concerned either way myself.

I won't be getting to the turn for about 8 hours, as I'm currrently at work, then I've gotta go chase a little white ball for a while.....

Anyways, glad to see your back on your feet Chaunk. Wouldn't want you making excuses later on, you know.....

The stockpile energy bug is exploited when you are building a unit and you enter the "Stockpile Energy" choice into your cities build queue. The leftover minerals from when the unit is complated are automatically converted into Energy (EC's) on that turn.
You can use any type of supply crawler that you feel necessary. FYI.

i c... in tcp/ip i think the left over minerals are used in the production of ur next choice... isn't that right... or does it only work when u have a cue ??

for instance, in pbem, if i que a scout rover... will the left over minerals go into the production of that or will they simply be wasted??

                        ---- turn to chaunk btw

                        Another question:

If i give a tech to Hive from UoP and the Hive happen to be researching that tech... will the tech research they have done simply move into the next thing u want to research like in tcp?

Wow, I'm really enjoying this setup. Two factions makes everything more interesting, and the early game goes that much faster. The map is awesome too!

                          2103 to Darsnan!

ChairmanSlick - The left over minerals are indeed carried over, up to a limit of 10. Putting stockpile energy in the queue as the first (and therefore only!) item in the queue means that the minerals are carried over plus you get the effects of stockpiling energy for that turn.

It's usually only a few credits, but it soon adds up if you do it for every build queue. It's more advantageous to a momentum faction than a builder, but then this game is set up for building.

With regard to your tech question, absolutly yes, the tech research will be kept and added to the next tech. Beware the tech cost can go up sharply though if you recieve a traded tech before you've researched one yourself. Probably a bit late to say that bit of info as you're likely to have traded techs or not already, but there it is.

YES but BEFORE you RESEARCH your first tech with a given faction, the tech cost can increase by acquiring other techs.

This is the exception to the general rule that tech cost is determined when you start a tech and remains unaltered for that tech no matter how many techs you acquire or even if you acquire the tech and transfer your research to something new.
