oh and another thing... who are the best players in apolyton pbem atm ... or considered the best... are BinTravkin and Rubin good?

Reverse prototyping is taking a unit that you've probed and using that to create new designs in the design workshop. This is completely allowed.

However, when you research planetary networks, the probe team comes on a rover chassis. Reverse engineering that chassis is not allowed, you need to wait for Doc: Mob before you can build rovers other than probes.

I keep every turn of every game I've ever played... Perhaps a bit obsessive, but it's not taking up too much space on the hard drive. It's odd though, as most of the games I have, I can't even remember my password I'll happily give you any saves you want & my pass after we're done, or one of us is eliminated.

I've never played IP. I find PBEM is much more convinient, as I can just play a turn and then go do something else, I don't need to sit by the computer for ages.

And ignore the powerchart. It's not a helpful way of measuring power. Sure, currently I'm winning, but the angels are miles ahead of us. According to the powerchart, they must be on their way to win the game!

Any opponant can be good. I've not played Rubin or binTravkin before so I couldn't comment. I think Mongoose is probably the best player I've had my buttocks whooped by, but he'd probably point you to someone else as the best. It's all subjective, and dependant on faction etc. Give me the Spartans or the hive, and I suck totally. Morgan on the other hand, I enjoy.

Also -- in terms of being crap... i tried to play believers the other day and got absolutely thrashed.. *Hive on the other hand is easy... +growth and industry is like starting the game with 4 extra cities... (but when a worm kills a pod and a city.. it kinda nuetralizes this advantage...

How do u normally play believers ... do u spam cities and units?? i'm completely at a loss

I came into the game as a replacement, and was already at war with Darsnan. We signed a short cease fire, but umm... I got gas happy The fun posts start on page 8, FYI. I also got impact chopper happy but thats for another time.

I normally play the believers as an builder. I'm a pure builder at heart, if it was down to me then no units with a weapon higher than 1 would be build! I use the support bonus for a massive former "army", and several CP's and cities really helps too. If I need to attack, then scout rushing is under-rated these days!

The hive though, urgh! No econ = no cash. It really sucks to be the Hive! The research is terrible, and even the base square is unproductive. I just can't play them at all... Sure it's nice to have growth, but with no tech, I just fall apart...

i also must disagree with u saying that hive are TERRIBLe at tech... They are my number one faction and quite often in 1v1 opponents pick UoP or morgan since they think that they will out tech and thus out last me.

+1 industry and the ability to use planned with no negatives (+2inudstry),, then u get wealth +1 industry... and ur looking at a faction who can PUMP formers.

Who can spam cities because of its ability to crush drones.. ie. police.
And who aren't really that bad at tech with the +1 economy from wealth. (only -1 energy in capital).. big deal!

Combine these with there ability to build formers/crawlers/projects quickily and they are a powerhouse.

Also i have played hive many times so that i can get them to a tech every two turns. (transcend)... not very difficult with there police and industry boon.

on the other hand u have believers who have an intrinic inability of -2 research... i think thats way more harsh than -1 economy (after wealth)...

Ah yes, but my believers have started to pop boom already... Plus, most of my research is done by Morgan in this game, with +4 econ. 'Tis tasty.

I don't deny that the hive are a powerhouse, but my playing style is all about energy. I need lots and lots of energy, where the hive won't let me have that. Compare a standard Morgan base 3-2-7 with a standard hive base 2-1-1. Now consider that I build many bases as Morgan - not as many as some people for sure, but still many. Thats 7 times the energy from the base square alone!

I'm asuming the Hive won't have enough money to buy a rec tanks in their bases. Morgan does.

I'll give you a 1v1, Morgan vs. Hive if you wish. I suspect I will out tech you

2129 to Darsnan.

i mean u might be able to get them up quicker.. buy buying them outright.. but thats a bit silly if u ask me. Hive can easily afford to buy them once u get 1/4 the way through building them....

i would love to play u in a one v one... but although i praise the Hive so much, i'm kinda in an experimental phase and cbf playing as them. perhaps another scenario would be fun...
