Newsflash.
The Admiral Svensgaard of the Nautilus Pirates was seriously wounded in a battle with a Isle of the Deep during a recon mission he personally lead. He has entered a deep coma, and it is feared that he may not recover. Until such time, his nephew, Ulrik Svensgaard III will take over the mantle of the leadership of the Nautilus Pirates.

jtsisyoda: As long as your version of SMACX reads v2.0 everything should be fine. The Compatibility patch only affects SMAC gameplay (and upgrades SMAC to version 5.0). I enjoy the original Alpha Centauri just as much as the expansion and therefore--of course--have the Compatibility patch installed.

By the way, I emailed the CMN - no password yet, I do have the turn. Please email me on any interactions our factions have had, I am going to try to not make any massive changes initially. Ethics sort of thing, I wouldn't want a replacement in a game I was playing undo a couple of months of play, so I will try to extend the same here as long as it doesn't hamstring me too far.The worst form of insubordination is being right - Keith D., marine veteran. Need a little help. Never run into this before, it's like one of those challenges where you do the start 30 years in the future, and try to fix all the AI's terraforming errors.
If a base (without facilities) stays in drone riots (I am looking at three additional turns - four total) can it go to another faction if the Domai isn't in the game? To stop the drone riots I instead am stuck with starvation at the base. That loses alot of nutriet production, which takes forever at this base (obviously, or they wouldn't be facing these choices).
There is something being producted there that's worthwhile, and I could convert it into a garrison unit. But will the garrison unit get produced even with an overage of minerals (red boxes) during consecutive drone riot turns? I've never run into this on my own, never been stuck with the choice.
Edit - forgot to ask, the stockpile energy bug. Never, after non-military, or any time?Last edited by Mr. Harley; January 14, 2004, 12:53.The worst form of insubordination is being right - Keith D., marine veteran. A dictator will starve to the last civilian - self-quoted

Sven stepped into the spartan grey cafeteria in the outlaying base. He wondered what in hell possessed them to put it in a gods fosaken place like this. There were no paticular resources anywhere. He looked around. The only decorations were the vomit from the night before, when the idiots had busted up a years production. That, and aforementioned slovenly idiots lying in druken comas. Their overalls may once have been grey, but now were coated with grease, food, and various other stains that shared a common lineage with the floor. They added color, and odor, to the room.
He walked over and vicously kicked one of rioters. The man grunted. Sven had checked the survellience videos in the production area, those that weren't broken. This was one of the ring leaders, he could tell from the greasy red hair and the broken nose.
"Up, you lazy swab." He kicked him again. As the man blurrily opened his eyes, grabbing for his belt knife, Svensgaard III pulled out his hand laser and placed it on the man's forehead. He snarled, "Go ahead, I need an example."
The man's eyes widened, recognizing their new leader. His hand dropped from his knife, and he started stammering, trying to explain. Sven listened. They had just been celebrating, they hated this hellhole, there were three men to every woman, and processed tree greens had been the only food. Then they had figured out reset the synthesizers to make rotgut, and they'd had some fun for the first time in a decade.
He cursed his uncle silently, under his breath. Sailors had to have their fun. Why hadn't uncle Ulrik put something, anything, for recreation, instead of the hush-hush production? All Sven knew was that he would make a difference, if only the other factions gave him the time. In the meantime he had to find out how much of the food synthesizer could be salvaged. Damn it, how did these morons expect to eat? You don't convert food production to alcohol, you build a f***ing still.Last edited by Mr. Harley; January 14, 2004, 13:51.The worst form of insubordination is being right - Keith D., marine veteran. A continuously rioting base won't produce anything mineral-wise, but I think you collect nutrients and energy. If Domai is not in the game, bases will not defect.
Stockpile energy cannot be placed in the queue, but you can select it with the "change" button if that's what you want to do."Give to Caesar what is Caesar's? Pay no attention to Caesar. He doesn't have a clue what's really going on." -Cat's Cradle

You will collect nuts when rioting. I thought bases would still convert ?? its just domai has the advantage that when they do they nearly always goto him. If enough minerals have been gathered to complete the production of a unit and there is even an overspill of minerals im fairly certain that unit will complete ... god i've got such a bad memory.
Good luck with it shadowI cant stand sven even from the start never mind a difficult challenge, but hey thats why we play MP games cos the AI is easy and we want the fight
