    My Torture Mod Version: Units & Abilities

    this is the 4th post in the series of my version of the Torture Mod discussion.

    the goals are as the previous posts: to reward infrastructure a bit more, slightly de-power momentum strats and add interest to the mid and end games. note that the changes below are dependent upon the tech changes, etc already posted. the changes below are summarized as follows:

    a. changed some pre-req techs for abilities to make them more useful in the game. some where so near the end that they were anti-climatic or relatively useless. the major change is that sea power is made available earlier in the game (which was previously ignored).

    b. mapped out the pre-defined unit ability codes for others to use to create new units.

    c. create about 20+ new units to solve the ignorant AI problem. the AI is not too imaginative in developing new units with discovered abilities. for example, I never saw the AI create Foil Probes in over 22+ SP games. however, once I added it to the unit list, they readily used them! I've experienced much better SP games since.

    d. added a few new units that are not possible thru unit design. these are typically upgrades, like more cargo capacity, etc.

    a few clever units I got off the net some time ago, but don't know who to credit -- like the VX Poison Gas Missle.
