I've been working inconsistantly on the AC Mod, having just recieved an old 80-88 gratis and the opportunity to repair and program with it in a DOS enviornment. In any event, I have finished almost all the text files, the aliens (who are no longer Progenitor) needing a complete overhaul and thus being the most difficult. Just about ready to go ahead with the graphics, which are about a twentieth done.
Much harder than I thought, but I have enjoyed the progression of the project. First, there will be more likely 9 factions instead of 8 (two alien, and 6 human). The human anarchists will be intended for a single scenario, and the two alien races will be swapable according to player preferences. The governments I have modified in to order to be more realistic (Fundamentalism has only become a technological deterrent in the past 100 years or so, so in Aftermath it's not the tech killer it was) and also to match some of the faction abilities.
Unless I get some source, however, I'm going to have a hard time creating secret projects or any other such serious "Mod" activities. And i don't think Firaxis has or will released anything. But I've made enough changes to have it be interesting.
The Plot will deal with the death of Planet as an intelligent entity (Trascendence project failed) the revenge on the human race that results by a third party, and the evolution of a new native creature (very similar to the Aliens in the film of the same name. I suppose I should make it clear now that the alien races are actually Transcendi controlled undead, so I can fulfill my lifelong dream of frying zombies with singularity lasers. There will be zombies and Vampires as schizmed factions.
That's all I can think of now. This was jotted off in a hurry, so I hope the typos aren't too bad. As for a deadline, I've been very proccupied with a java-based AI project, but... I'll get around to it.
Thanks again for all the positive responses! I hope I'll not disappoint.
