  • 2 New Factions that want feedback.....

Alright, I have created two new factions with conflicting veiws. I also have a problem. But first, the factions. The first faction is called the "Athens Society". They are based around a extremely intelligent, democratic, free-market society. Note that these factions are probably too powerful/weak. I was just posting to see if anyone was interested for me to send them a copy and to get feedback. The "Athens Society"'s datalinks are posted below:

    #DATALINKS1
    LEADER: Commissioner Pravin Lal
BACKGROUND: United Nations Space Authority, Unity Intellect
    AGENDA: Education, Knowledge
    TECH: Planetary Networks

    #DATALINKS2
    +2 EFFICIENCY: Stable Government
+2 GROWTH: Large families are cheap and common thanks to social programs
+2 ECONOMY: Capitalist society produces wealth quickly
-2 SUPPORT: Civilian participation in government creates large military bureaueracies
-3 PLANET: Great economies and huge growth causes eco-damage
-5 POLICE: Poor citizens revolt against their unscrupolous mogul masters
    May not use Power Values.

The "Athen Society" is a combination of Democracy and Free Market social effects. Should I have combined Democracy and Knowledge? I picked Free Market Economics over Knowledge because it was *FREE*.

The next faction is called the "Aries Confederacy". They beleive that citizens should not rule the rulers and they want to unify all of PLanet under the rule of their Emperor. They are a combination of Police State and Power social effects, with the exeption of the +35% attack bonus. Their datalinks are below:

    DATALINKS1
    LEADER: Emperor Horvath
    BACKGROUND: Nobody Knows
AGENDA: To expand the Gemini Empire
    TECH: Doctrine: Mobility

    #DATALINKS2
+4 SUPPORT: Highly trained troops require little support
+2 MORALE: Highly trained military troops
+2 POLICE: Leaders use oppression to keep their citizens in line
-2 INDUSTRY: Industries suffer from bloated defense budget
-2 EFFIC: Opression decreases economic efficency
FANATICAL MILITARY UNTITS: +35% Attack Bonus
May not use Free Market Economics.

Soooo....what does everyone think? Ne one interested?

My problem is that I can't put any more then 7 social effects or special social things. I had a really great faction that combined the effects of police state, planned, power, and thought control but I couldn't use it because of this problem. ANyone ever run into this?

Erm, doesn't fanatic bonus give +25% attack bonus not 35

Sapper, you CAN give your faction up to 9 things not 7 (I am certain since I create series of factions with 9 things in them, and they all work). By 9 things, I mean STATEMENT, PARAMETER as 1 (eg. UNIT, 1 or SOCIAL, ----POLICE).

I think that the factions are unbalanced (ie. huge bonuses in one thing, huge penalties in other) but, if put against other 'unbalanced' factions can work harmoniously . I especially love having two overpowered aggressive factions fighting againsrt each other .

I do think that the Aerians are much more powerfull that the Athenians. Maybe giving the Aerians a -1 or -2 ECONOMY to 'balance' them further

    I hope this helped...

      Re: Topic Reveiw

Oooops....my fingure must have pushed "3" when I was writing the datalinks. I got that fixed now.

I can only get 7 social parameters...like police, economy, industry, morale, ect., ect.

I have redone the factions. First, the Athens Society:

      DATALINKS1
      LEADER: Commissioner Pravin Lal
BACKGROUND: United Nations Space Authority, Unity Intellect
      AGENDA: Education, Knowledge
      TECH: Planetary Networks

      DATALINKS2
+4 GROWTH: Large families are cheap thanks to social programs
      +3 EFFICIENCY: Stable Government
+2 RESEARCH: Leaders pour resources into education
+2 ECONOMY: Capitalist society produces wealth quickly
+2 INDUSTRY: Leaders concentrate on building industry rapidly
-2 SUPPORT: Civilian leaders create large military bureaueracies
-2 PROBE: Leaders promote free flow of information
      May not use Power Values.

      Now the Aries Society:

      DATALINKS1
      LEADER: Emperor Horvath
      BACKGROUND: Nobody Knows
AGENDA: To unify Planet under the Emperor's rule
      TECH: Doctrine: Mobility

      DATALINKS2
+4 POLICE: Leaders use oppression to keep their citizens in line
+3 MORALE: Highly trained military troops
+2 GROWTH: Government promotes population growth
+2 PROBE: Citizens are resistant to outside control
+1 SUPPORT: Highly trained troops require little support
-2 INDUSTRY: Industries suffer from bloated defense budget
-4 EFFIC: Opression decreases economic efficency
May not use Free Market Economics

I think they are equal now. One of them excels in war/tolitarianism and doesn't in economy/industry and one excels in economy and demcocracy but they don't in some areas of war.

Hum... If the Athens society is left alone for a while, it might get enough technology to stand against the Aries. But if the Aries use their capacity to control lots of armies, they can still crush anyone.

I heard that you could give your factions 256 characters of things.

You posibbly heard it as 256 characters in a line (approx 9 things).

Sapper, you are probably right, only 7 SOCIAL modifications, but looking at you faction file you put 8 things in there (include the tech aswell), which proves my previous point. I think that the Athenians now can easily crush the Aerians withing 40 turns. Maybe give them -2/3 MORALE instead of -2 PROBE?
