  • A library database for new factions

I know that the site has a database for factions.

But I got the feeling that recently created ones are not listed in the database.

Is there a list of all of the factions that was created ever since the database's last update?

I'm thinking about making a WW2 on Chiron scenario. Has anyone made factions after the WW2 civs? I'm especially interested in the Axis powers.

I don't know if anyone has done it before, but i wouldn't mind making some WWII factions myself if you want... Are you thinking Hitler, Churchill, etc., or do you mean a WWII theme, as in a axis/allied theme to fictional factions?

I was actually thinking of two scenarios, one basically ignores that it is a game with SMAC mechanics and is set up on the Earth map. A recreation of WW2 with Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, US, Communist or Nationalist China and neutrals.

The other is different, a fesh start on planet goes wrong as people are divided by nationality as well as ideology. Some historians on Planet get a strange feeling of deja vu a few decades later...

        So I was thinking:
        -An Angloameircan faction
(bits of Hindu India + Commonwealth + US, with the US/UK being dominant)

        -A Chinese authoritarian nationalist faction
        (A Nationalist China/Modern china/North Korea splice)

        -A Eurasian pseudo-Communist faction
(mostly Russia and Eastblock, but a bit of Mao's Red China too)

-A Japanese/East Asian Empire (under an Emperor if possible )

-A White Supremacy faction (not as bad as the Nazis sort of half way between Nazism and the various fascist regimes in Europe at the time, most certainly racist and in favour of harsh eugenics tho)

-A European federation (EU spinoff, very liberal and multiethnic. It wouldn't represent just Continental countries like France or Sweden or Poland that got stomped by Hitler in WW2 but also their colonial Empires-this mostly means Africa)

-A Latin American faction/Neutrals faction/UN-type faction ( a faction that would stay out of wars but could grow to be pretty large if somewhat ineffective at war. )

If you feel like Making any that would be great!

Does anyone know of a good Earth map I can download? I tried to build one, but I had a hard time keeping the continents the right size relative to each other, and then I got obsessive about it and tried to put all the min/nut/en bonuses where they would really be, and in the end I got bored after about a week.

You may already know this, but i think you can put versions of the .txt files in a scenario file and it will override the original file when you play the scenario, i'll try it out i guess... and there is a planet .txt file which gives details about planet radius, equatorial 'sunshine' band, etc, also gives details for earth, so you could give the earth planet the correct stats?

and here's a faction i've been doing, almost fits in with the theme...

Nice! May I use this as my East Asian Empire?

yeah, you're welcome to, if you want the factions with the proper world war 2 leaders though, i'll have them done in a couple of days... (British, Americans, Russians, French Resistance, Nazi Germany, Japanese and Italians, once i started one, i had to finish the set, and by the way he 'Nationalist' faction at the top has already been updated, so don''t worry, will have proper logos, etc)

I think the Eastern front is about up and running:

(and i'll get the .txt files done at some point, with mp3 files as well, hopefully)

I've playtested the scenario (WW2 clone) with the original 7 factions as placeholders. Decided that a world map is the best idea.

Question: Since I don't know how to stop the AI from building sea cities without disabling all seagoing vessels would using sea bases to simulate islands in the pacific be ok or do you think it would stretch believability too much?

The alternative is no colony pods, but I'm trying to change as few rules as possible and the Eurasian wars often end in many cities destroyed which I would like for the player to have the option to rebuild.

Hmm, sea bases might not be a bad thing, there were a lot of sea forts built in the sea near Britain and (i believe) in the Pacific, i could do proper sea-fort graphics for it, or if you do want to get rid of the, you could try disabling pressure domes, don't know if it would work.
