  • Creating own terrain graphics

    Hello,

I want to change the texture.pcx file to create my own terrain graphics as I hate the dark and ugly default set. I have read this thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...rrain+graphics

I have noticed that it's all about the palettes... the original palette must not be changed, if you do, the game graphics are messed up. Is there no chance to modify the existing colors or add new ones?

For example, I want the ocean squares to be blue, just like in Civ3. But I cannot paint them blue because there is no blue in the palette.pcx palette. Any idea how to do this? Is it possible at all?

I hope you understand what I mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Colors 144 through 188 are the blue ramp, from almost white to almost black, and this scale is what is used to paint the water according to its depth.
If you want all water the same color, such as 208 or 244, no matter what the depth is, you have a fairly large editing job to do in a different, very sensitive, file.
I am on a mission to see how much coffee it takes to actually achieve time travel.
