I haven't seen any posts up here regarding the supposed mod. The wiki has not been updated in ages, is the project officially dead?

Besides, the situation on the legal front is pretty smokey too..-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

(Civ4 SMAC) is this project dead?
Hi all, I have looked at some great mods such as song of the moon etc. which are really showing off some really great things in modding civ4.
From the lack of acitivity on these boards. I take it that most people have lost interest/ moved onto better things. We are now in March, and I think its is fair enough that we are waiting for an SDK which may not even be released, if current information is correct or even if it is released it will be long after warlords comes out.
Is anyone still interested in creating this? or am I the only one?Come visit the SMAC Mod

What is done in SotM is mainly terrain changing. The underlying mechanics aren't really changed.
Now, compare that with the unit setup SMAC has and you should realize that this is not yet possible without a SDK.

There has already been a mod for the beginnings of a unit workshop, however in evaluating, it seems that everyone is focused on what can't be done, as a opposed to what can be done!
SOTM, has custome terrain, custom units, custom cities icons, custom resources. There is an interlude mod already.
There is a tonne of stuff that can be done, and ok, it won't be SMAC straight away, but its a good start.
Things like terrain changing and unit workshop, weren't the only thing that made the game great there were lots of other aspects too.
All those Smaxers out there, wake up and start, who knows by the time we get to the advanced stage, we might have an alternative way to tackling the problem.Come visit the SMAC Mod

This is a duplicate thread so I've merged it with the older one. If you already don't look for older threads at least try to follow naming conventions. Thank you.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives
