  • flc photo series graphics screwed up

    Since I'm creating a new faction set for SMAniaC, I'm looking somewhat into flc files, you know those image series during diplomacy next to the bioscan.

    One of the new factions is Atlantis, so using the flc files of that faction on the Network Node would be neat. I've changed the leader pic though, so I'd like to remove the last pic out of the series. I've done that using Fast Movie Processor, and the series - now one frame shorter - looks normal in FMP, but when I test it out in-game, the graphic quality is all screwed up. Have a look at the cromlech (or whatever it's called again) example below. To the left is how it should be; to the right how it now appears in-game after I removed the last frame.

    Does anyone know what caused this? What did I do wrong?

    Do the frames layer on each other or something like that.

    The reason I ask is that it looks like the second pic is incomplete like a bad video card or running to many programs at once would do.
    You have two choices in life; Explore and learn or Vegetate.
    There is a reason for everything.

      It looks to me that there's a palette associated with .flc files, and your editor changed that palette. SMAC doesn't actually read the palette contained in most .pcx (and presumably .flc) files, which yields a hodge-podge of colors with the right shape.

        I noticed now that there's an option automatically clicked on 'reduce to single palette'. When I remove that bird everytime before saving the edited flc, it works fine in-game. Thanks for the hint re palettes.
