  • [C4:AC] [Programming] Adding Factions, or replacing Civ's?

    After several PM's with Rubin I realized that he is adding Factions to the game, whereas I am taking the opposite approach of replacing existing Civlizations with Factions.

    While I have no issue with changing direction at this point why I think it better now than later to ensure that everyone agrees with this approach of "adding" Factions to the game, and that no one else is taking the opposite approach of mod'ing existing Civ's.

    Does the Programming Group concur with this approach?

    Could you two coordinate your efforts? Adding factions sounds better than replacing civilizations with factions.

      I don't think there's a big difference between the two approaches.

      As long as you also change the TXT_KEY variable names, the factions can be used in either way (by copy/paste or delete). If you don't change them, this isn't possible because there will be duplicates.

      If you add factions, it will always be possible to remove the civ4 ones later. If you change the civ4 ones now, it might not always be possible to add the civ4 ones back in.

        Darsnan it would be nice if you elaborate a bit more.

        What exactly are the pros and cons of each approach both gameplaywise and modwise?
