Well, I've actually never had trouble and I am running XP SP2 at home and Win2000 at work..

The solution for running older games is emulation. DosBox is already pretty good at running old dos games: I imagine more emulation platforms will be created as more and more Win95 games become difficult to run on modern machines.
(another possibility is a hacked patch to SMAC. I can't imagine the problem is all that deep....it might be a problem with the copy protection, for example.)
If your agenda is to recreate SMAC on Civ4 to preserve it's ablity to be played on modern computers, it's a lot of work for nothing. (a) Eventually, Civ4 will be just as obsolete as SMAC, (b) there are better solutions, such as emulation, that can be maintainted through the far-flung future.Last edited by drekmonger; October 29, 2005, 08:17.

lol senethro ever heard of vmware? i can run linux,win98,win95 really anything here on xp
of course you may need to eh aquire as it may have a price tag but otherwise
see zipped screen
and yes i couldnt install the cdrip no matter what. i had to install it in vmware then transfer the folder back to play. cant speak for the full versian,im not sure it exists despite being referred to walmart or paying 100$Attached Filesif you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it
