customization help. tips please :)

I been trying to customize my alien crossfire for the last few weeks. Getting nowhere fast. Sure glad I found this board, getting a lot of good ideas from here.

I hope I can motivate people on posting some tips here on how to put your own picture on a faction. I'm still just getting "black" when I put my ugly mug shot on the Gaian pcx file. I'm using microsoft image composer, don't have psp yet.

Icq me, email me also if you have time to give me some tips, don't mind at all. I sure like to get back to actually "playing" the game again. Just stuck on trying to get this customization stuff to work.

Any tips be appreciated.

Just a follow up from my last post. I just downloaded the 30 day trial version of jasc paint shop pro. So, I'll have it for 30 days. If I can figure out how to do this wish psp, I'll be able to do it with my other image editors. Also found something on mj's website, ace edit 20.
Any other suggestions for downloads that will help customize a smac game?
Heck, any help what so ever be great, I really like to learn how to do this.

To use custom pictures, they must be the correct size in pixel width and height.

I think Vel posted it somewhere on the main site - have a peruse around the customisation area of the main site - I know I saw it somewhere....

Heh, Finally found another Aussie! I've got a site devoted to custom factions, if u like u can send me your pic and a faction text file and I'll whip one up, it sounds like there's a bit of interest in do it yourself customisation though, so I'll start a new thread to get feedback on whether or not to post a tute on my site (photoshop only at the moment), I'm on mac but I'v got Virtual PC so I could always download the demo of Paint Shop and do one for that as well!
