  • Converting mp3s in Win95

If you want to make mp3s for factions and don't have Windows 98 (where the sound recorder can save as mp3 format), you can get a useful codec which will allow you to do this is Windows 95.

Go to http://jandal.genxer.net and get to the "****e Divers" section. Then click on "MP3/WAV codec doofer", download it, install it and now you can save your wav files as mp3s! Make sure you use the 32 kBit/s, 11,025 Hz, Stereo 4KB/s setting as well as changing the extension from wav to mp3 when you're done.

I hope this info proves useful to people still using Windows 95 (like me).

Oops. Forgot to tell you that you use Sound Recorder to convert the files. Also if you have an mp3 that you want to use, you have to convert it into a wav file, then convert it back to an mp3 in the correct format. To do this you can use Winamp (http://www.winamp.com) or any encoder/decoder you can get off the internet.
