  • Building Monoliths

Having completed my SNAX mod (ready anyday now!), I have gone over every single scrap and method of modifying SMAC I can think of. But in a recent thread about getting the AI to produce more forests by disabling the mineral production of mines was brilliant, and taught me that I can still be surprised once and a while.

Now my question to you all is: Has anyone ever figured out a way of being able to produce a monolith? Creating a new, advanced tech that would enable the building of monoliths, without needing to go into the editor and cheating would be the coolest thing! But alas, I do not think it possible. I've tried assigning the Monolith in the #TERRAIN section of alpha.txt and assigning a hotkey to it, but the game does not seem to recognize it, no matter what I do, and there does not seem to be a way to endow a unit with such regenereation and morale-boosting capabilities. But maybe some of you have found something truly unusual, something i have not thought of...

You need to change the "Disable" tech prerequisite tag for the Monolith to either "None" or a tech name.

And has this worked for you? Were your formers then able to produce Monoliths? This seems to be the logical thing to do, and I've tried it, but there never appears a menu item to terraform Monoliths. Please do tell if anyone has managed to get this to work. Maybe just a SMAC 4.0 glitch that was fixed in SMACX 2.0.
