    Well, I posted this on the "Star Wars Modpack" thread, but no one replied, so I guess no one saw it there.


    I'd just like to say this: The Star Wars MOD pack has NOT been abandoned. As we speak, I'm finishing the very LONG readme that will explain it all. Here is the link

    Well, since NO ONE has posted here, I'll assume you guys no longer like the idea. I'm going to stop wasting time drawing those blasted cities if you're not even going to say you downloaded it to try it out.

        Thanks for commenting. I wanted this thread not to be a place for reviews, but simply a place for me to see if anyone at least tried it out.

        This is quite a big project. The download only contains the bare necisities to run it. The full version will have fully customized faction graphics, new interludes, altered names, even more new units w/ graphics, a slew of new pictures (Satalite battle = Death Star trench run, Base seizure = Droids marching into Theed on Naboo, ect ect), at least three scenarios, some altered and advanced terraforming graphics, and more stuff.

        It's a lot. It's going to be way bigger then any of the mods our right now, and it is going to totally change the way that Alpha Centauri looks, feels, and plays. I just want to make sure that people are at least trying it out so that interest has not been lost.

            I downloaded the file, but I'm having problems with SMACX. A little ways into the startup, I get a fatal error message. It reads, "Unable to allocate to draw-buffer; terminating program" or some such fiddle-faddle. I have, however, taken a look at the Units.pcx file, and a couple of the faction files, and they look pretty good.

            Hopefully, I'll get SMACX to work properly so I can try your modpack. By the way, when do you hope to have the whole thing finished?

              Hmm... do you get that message every time? I may have left out a critical file in the download if you do.

              As of when it will be complete... darned if I know. The graphics are what is slowing me down. I have all the faction leader and HQ pics done, five of the logos in place, and four of the cities. I'm still toying with special abilities, but that's not a big deal.

                Ok, so it wasn't my modback. That is a relief! I hope you get that problem solved soon.

                Scenarios: not started (will start when the rest is done and has been released)

                That's the update. If anyone has some city-drawing talent or has cities for the FREELANCE (hives of scum and vilany), REPUBLIC (nice looking and tall), or FEDERATION (mechanized and efficient), please contact me!

                      What you might do for the Federation, is use the skyscraper graphics for the Sid & Brian factions that came with SMACX. After all, they look mechanized and efficient.

                        It's been a while, and I still haven't gotten any feedback about actual gameplay yet, so I'll bring this back to the top.

                        I still lack those grahpics. Darn it all... oh. The Sid/Brian ones look too non-StarWarsish to be used. But a nice idea.

                          Curse ye! I screeched, "Curse ye, Jasonian!" [sob sob sob cry cry cry] Now your wonderful work has made my Civ2 StarWars Rebellion-style game totally obsolete! Ah well, it's time for the rad pistol to the jawbone treatment...farewell, cruel world, etc etc.

                          Seriously though, my copy of AXfire gets upset with "NabEth" in the Naboo faction line. I didn't get the chance to look at anything else as this was the first thing I tried to do, so perhaps everything else is fine.

                          And... before you get too upset about this one, bear in mind that like most foolish novice scenario makers/players, I *totally neglected* to view the readme.txt!

                          But honestly, good work and whatever you do, don't give up because I for one am interested!

                            i downloaded your modpack but since i don't have SMACX i can't play test it...i did look over your factions, but they just didn't feel right to me, so i am going to post your factions and my proposed changes in the custom faction thread in AC general

                              Nope... I've pored over the readme.txt like a good little St Trinians schoolgirl, and I can only surmise that you've not bundled a few necessary techs in with the download.

                              Again, don't give up - I think your idea could go very far indeed. I've always wanted to be able to bring up the "UNITS WORKSHOP" menu and tinker with the following:

                              1) Chassis: Heavy starship

                              2) Armor: Titanium Plastisteel alloy

                              3) Shielding: Heavy ray - field arc

                              4) Weapons: Ion - Laser - Warhead

                              5) Power: Plasma (Star) drive

                              6) Special Power 1: Tractor beam

                              7) Special Power 2: Hyperspace

                              Prototype Name: "Imperial Class Star Destroyer"

                              Plus image of everyone's favorite wedge-shaped, ice-white starship spinning slowly round in the units slot!


                              Now that would be a screen worth paying money for!
