Can I substitute the pcx files in smax with my own files and still have the game running?

And what application do I use for creating pcx files?

It shouldn't hurt anything to switch .ocx files while the program is running, just don't know when the game will 'refresh' the graphics, but would guess they will not refresh until the game is saved and reloaded. Then agian..

As far as creating .pcx file there are alot of programs out there that can do it, you can find some of them listed in some of the older posts, The one I have used is Paint Shop Pro 6.0 which you can get a 60 day evaluation demo dl off the web Do a web search, It should be on thier homepage. (ACK can't even remember who publishes this, but a search for Paint Shop Pro will turn it up)

If you preserve the layout, then, yeah.
