    So...what changes would you propose that wouldn't unbalance the game?

    I'll admit I'd love sleuthing around in a submarine, but:

    1) submarines are typically slower than surface vessels
    2) submarines rely on stealth, surprise, not speed.
    3) there are high speed submarines but those complicate matters in the game.

    Basically you'd have to figure out the primary elements of a submarine compared to a surface ship and work out how to integrate those into the game without unbalancing anything, yet still offering a unique theatre. Obviously, land presence is significantly more advantageous than sea presence in the game, so I'm not sure what that would gain. You might have 30 cruisers, 70 foils and 20 submarines in active deployment but that means nothing if you're way behind in tech and your MP enemy Zak is well entrenched inland, being protected by shore batteries and needlejets.
