Version 2 SMAX shows as version 1???Patch help needed.

I unzipped the latest patch for SMAX (version 2) but when I take a peek in the help/game version from within the game menu it is still showing as version 1. I have unzipped the patch into the same directory as what Alpha Centauri is installed to. I have applied the patch several times and appears to be overwriting files. Should I be seeing version 2 listed in the game version menu?
I am running windows 7 64 bit.

Ok....eh hem. I am a bit of a goof it seems. Somehow I have installs in program files AND program files (x86). I guess in all my toying with getting the game to install under windows 7 64 bit (not too difficult..just installed from safe mode) I somehow installed the vanilla game in both locations....not sure how i did that. Anyways...version 2 is now showing up after I aplied it to program files (x86) Firaxis Alpha Centauri.
