  • Playing via a TCP/IP connection online

I've recently been able to convince some friends to take a crack at playing Alpha Centauri online. We tried the Hamachi network connection, however, we run into a snag. I was hoping that someone could give me some advice.

We all connect to Hamachi and connect into Alpha Centauri. One individual creates the room and this is where we run into an issue. We are able to find the created room, however, upon attempting to connect to it it boots us back to the main menu. No errors cited.

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

See this thread for tips on using Hamachi. If that doesn't help, see the discussion here.

Let me ask one more question, Is it possible to play Alpha centauri using Windows 7? Or was the removal of DirectPlay from DirectX the downfall of that?

I've seen reports of Alpha Centauri running on Windows 7. However, some systems require "tweaks" to get the game to work. It's possible that, for example, certain video cards might not be compatible, though.
