Hello everyone . Sorry for invading your forums like this, but this seems like the best place to ask.
Basically, I've been a pretty fervent strategy player, both RT and TB for a while now. While I was reasonably good at RTS, I never got the hang of TB in competetive play, but in all honesty, never tried either. However, I have learned from my experiences that if you start playing on a higher level, game experience becomes more fun.
Recently, I've installed SMAC again. Having played it for ages in my young period, always on citizen tho, and having played Civ4 aswell, I really looked forward to the awesome experience it would give me. I just love the atmosphere and the depth of the game. But the more I've been playing lately, the less I've felt satisfied. I know I've been playing on a low level, beating the second level computers easily, but I'm not sure where to start improving on a game that's so huge, and has so many aspects. I looked for some sort of general compendium or thread/post which had like the most basic information and terms explained, from which I could learn, but I haven't found anything like it.
So here I am, hoping that someone would be as kind as to give me a little more info about SMAC, to help me become a better player and be able to enjoy the game to it's fullest with all it's aspects.
Right now, I know how most basics work concerning base building and terraforming, but for example I don't know how the type of terraforming/playstyle relates to the factions you play. I myself find myself to be mostly a Gaian or University player.
So yeah, if there's any compendium or just someone who's feeling kind enough to give me a hand, I'd be a very happy person.
Thanks in advance guys!
