I've been playing Aki over several games now and have noticed that there appears to be an irony engine buried somewhere in Crossfire...
Three times (out of five starts) I end up on a shallow arid isle, bereft of moisture and with no foil from pods in two games (one game, the land nearest had Marr in full spate pumping out bases, and a sealurk made short work of any attempt at colonization by that little ship that didn't).
Twice I began either in the Great Dunes, or adjacent, with the only productive land a way through the Dunes. And then I pod-prod, and the land gets elevated, not only making it even more arid, but linking me to the Hive, who has about 8 bases to my 2 and Doctrine Mobility, Impact Weaponry and Plasma Armour.
Not quite my shortest game, but certainly one rich in expletives...
