Are there any fairly common conventions for naming the landmasses on the Map of Planet?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but at the bottom of p.71 of the Prima Strategy Guide, Chris Pine (who created the Map of Planet) states:
"Incidentally, I did not name any of the landmarks of Planet. Brian [Reynolds], who has a much better knowledge of mythology than I do, named them after Centaurs and a few other things from myths about Centaurs."

Aside for the conventions, how does everyone name their landmasses?
Mine are Gondwana and Laurasia or simply names of explorers that supposedly travelved thare.Comment
