Revisiting AC, any suggested mods?

Hi, its been quite some time since i last played AC and i'm thinking about revisiting it, however i was wondering if there are any suggested mods/patches to use since the game was released so long ago?

You might want to look at SMAniaC.

We're playing the mod in the Alpha Centauri Democracy Game 6 and we've just begun. You are welcome to join us.

The latest patches are listed in THE SMAC/X FAQ at the top of this forum. Look at question #26, #29 in the first post and #63 in the ninth post (if you have Vista).
