I don't really understand. Even with the patches, you can still enable the scenario editor to achieve any of the things that scient has fixed

I would suggest that we continue using this thread since we started the morale problem here. When that is over, perhaps you could ask Illuminatus to lock this thread and put a pointer at the end of this thread to a new thread.
And a link in the first post in this new thread pointing to this - not only are there scient's exellent work, but there are also a lot of good info about the game.

@Petek : maybe there should be a #xx Q : Known quirks in the game A: (link to this thread)

      • 500 posts per thread is a tradition rather than a necessity act for about four years. If you want to continue over 500 mark you are free to do so. Although keeping everything in one thread could get complicated. Be free to branch out.

As for preventing the non-exploit patched exe from being used in MP, I've already thought of some methods to handle this. I'm curious what exploits I've patched that you normally use in sp?

Even if I do make exploits optional, issues like the elite morale / patrol bug which dual as both exploit/bug would not be optional. It's not possible to fix one and keep the other.
              I hear you. Thanks.

No specific exploits come to mind, though as I followed the thread I've thought "if he fixes that, it's not for me" repeatedly. Darsnan emailed me the scient-ificPatch today, and I'm shortly going to install it to check out in tandem with playtesting he wants me to do. I'll get back to you.

-Okay, come to think of it, there's the F4 switch-opponents'-workers-to-specialists cheat. It’s a rotten game-breaker, but I’d like to have the option. I don’t think either of the bugs I posted here, timewarp and buildqueue, got any respect, but I’d miss them if they were gone. I only posted them to be helpful (and of course to brag that I discovered them) for the sake those who hold exploits in contempt. I’ll let you know as others come to mind.

...Just wanted to add that it does this with fungus planting-spreading, too.

I've never been impressed with the user-friendliness of the scenario editor interface. I'm a pretty talented user, and couldn't get handle on the map interface at all, and kinda gave up on the whole thing.

If I understand what you're sugesting, I only partly know how to do that, in other words. If I really cared to learn, I would have seven years ago. I've always drawn the line at scenario editor cheats. That seems like it wouldn't even feel like I was playing a game.

It also sounds like a lot more work than using the exploits.

                      • A bug report by Darsnan on the CFC thread from Darsnan:

"Bug: human's can't build improvements on the top of Mt Planet, however the AI can build improvements (such as sensors, roads, and even cities). The AI should be prevented from building improvements here as well.

                        D"

                        A response by Buster's Uncle:

"Also, I believe formers can build a road across that center square if you use the build-road-to option, not if you move them to the square and hit r; same as with fungus during a long period when you aren't suppose to be able to do that at all. Sounds buggy to me, though I’d miss the latter.."

And another bug report by Darsnan:

"Bug: humans can't raise terrain adjacent another faction without incurring a diplomatic penalty against said faction, however AIs can raise land which impinges upon a human's territory. Had this happen to me yesterday where the Drones made a land-bridge attaching to my territory when we were pacted.

                        D"

                        • I'd miss the latter I mentioned a LOT. I use the build-to exploit through fugus constantly during the game time it will do it without having to clear the fungus first- I'm usually building mag-tubes for a while before it becomes unnecessary.

Don't know if it will help you or anything but a human can build a city on top of mount planet and still receive the +1 mineral and energy. If it is a user created map and you change the rockiness of the summit to rolling or flat. I do not know if an automated former will level the terrain or not I have never used automated formers before, but I am sure if you could get them to do so it would also be possible to build a city that way as well. Other than that I can vouch for the rest of the statement as true.
I got scolded in Bold letters by Iluminatus.
                            That makes me sad. :(

I can't use smilies in my signature that makes me even more sad. :(

I discovered in ACDG5 that both human and AI players can establish bases in ocean and ocean trench squares.

It won't let you level terrain there in-game, and that's not something I've ever seen automated formers do anywhere. What you have to do if you just have to use that square is lower an adjacent square, which will lower the higher center-square too, and live without the Volcano bonuses in either square.
