  • Rescuing captured leaders?

The SMAX 2.0 patch says you can do it. So, can you? If so, how? Capture the capital of the power that captured the leader in question? What happens if you do rescue a leader?

I think you need a probe team action on the enemy capital, and they should get a new colony pod, and be sub pacted to you.

I can vaguely remember having done this once, but its been a while since I messed around with it.

Cheers Whoha--I'll have to give it a try in my current game.

I've done it. It's an interesting project you can try if you want to leverage up trade income, but from a score perspective, you're almost always better off just plunking down bases of your own. I kind of wish they designers had weighted scoring so that you could get more points from subservient factions, so as to reward players for benevolence.

That shouldn't be an issue for me, as I play with colonization modules disabled in the design workshop. You get colony pods when you land, and then occasionally from beacons, but aside from that, you have to work with what bases you've got (usually 3-6 all told), so an extra base should make a differenc, even if controlled by subservient power.

well thats interesting, I've done that in Civ3 a few times, though the lack of crawlers means you can't horridly abuse the ai by doing so.
