  • Planet stat bugged?

    Ok, I know that probe stat resets down when it goes over 3, but now I wonder if there's something similar to the planet stat as well.

    I'm playing Smaniac mod with Bree faction and had +7 planet for quite a while now. I have lots of IoD's moving around popping pods and harvesting planet pearls, but while they get huge attack bonuses my NL capture rate is really low, not any better than it was with +1 planet

    I think that your nominal NL capture rate is capped at 75% (+3 Planet). However, the rate decreases for each captured unit that you still possess. In other words, after you've captured a certain number of units, your capture rate becomes very low (but never drops to zero, AFAIK).

    OTOH, you get the full benefit of +7 Planet in psi combat and in reducing ecodamage (again, AFAIK).

    All of the above info applies to SMAC/X. I don't know whether SManiaC changes any of it,

      Your capture rate is also better with conventional units. This was done to prevent a high-Planet faction from rolling over others since the rate of capture by natives will decrease faster as your Gaian/Cult/Bree MW and IoD start swarming all over the place.

        I guess that explains why I can't capture anything as I'm all native. Although I've captured only like 40 NL's so far when in some other games with late game fungal pops I've been capturing them in huge quantities with 3 or 4 planet without any problems ... using conventional units that is.
