I always thought you just needed one satellite. I was reading some old posts and someone referenced multiple satellites. Are satellites cumulative or do you need just 1?

The very most you'll ever need is 128 of each, (well more of the anti PB ones is fine, just don't ask me what they're called ) since a colony (good god, i can't remember any SMAC jargon...) can only use one satellite of each type per population and the max population is 128.I once was a slave to the Alderbaran 2 project!
Now I shall work towards cIV:AC!... Oh Wait, that's dead too...
It's Nword like 'lord' and 'sword'

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Really, Cloning Vats, Skybase Academy and 14-18 satellites of each type is all you'll need until you research hab domes. Plentiful nutrients will easily support enough specialists to keep your entire population docile despite massive overcrowding. Once you research hab domes, just devote enough bases to building satellites to launch one new satellite (of each type) each turn, since that's the rate at which your bases will be growing.
