  • Pacifism details?

Ok, I read in another thread that Interceptors work fine even with Pacifism...

    But what about Copters?
I mean, I've built a few in one city, spreaded them and re-homed them in different cities...
They keep adding drones even after being rehomed and placed there still!
It seems like they will create drones no matter what.
Is that supposed to happen? Or a quirk with my installation maybe?

Copters are airplanes for the purposes of pacifism. My recollection is that if you put air-superiority on a copter it will be treated as an interceptor for pacifism purposes

The simplest way to deal with pacifism is to create a specialist or a punishment sphere base-- you CAN have a lrage airforce and run FM if you manage things properly

yep, I read that too, actually (even though I haven't tried yet, been trying fooling around with FM only in the last game)
But my point was, I thought drones were created only by units wandering AWAY from home.
How comes copters create drones even when they're standing still in their cities?
What are the exact rules for pacifism? Are they described in details somewhere?

Or a really tiny base crawling minerals supporting your army.

If you looked in two other threads you would see me go into detail on that very thing . The small base usually becomes a "specialist base" in that its single citizen becomes a specialist

The following conditions trigger pacifists in factions with a poor enough police rating:

            1) An offensive military unit outside your territorial borders.
            2) Any air unit without 'air superiority', kept anywhere. This is a balance issue to prevent a cagey marketeer from using large amounts of long-ranged air power to jump out and capture a base in a single turn, effectively extending your borders before the drones can react.
            3) Any planetbuster, ever. This should come as no suprise to anyone. PBs are doomsday weapons, and your hippy drones know what they're used for.

Oh, well that's good to know. #1 and #3 came as no surprise to me, but #2 did. That would explain some of my drone problems. . . While I rarely capture bases in a single turn, I do tend to build masses of planes.

                thanx, that definitely makes sense.

The level of "realism" in this game is very good - only thing I'd say, changing social settings appears a tad easy, but hey!

Yeah having a few turns in a "revolution" state or removing the 40ec cap and linking the cost of an SE change to something like infra upkeep would have interesting game consequences on those FM->planned->FM switches
