More noob questions

Hello all!

I recently started playing Alpha Centauri again (it's probably been 4-5 years since I played it last) and have immensely enjoyed it, and so am looking into playing it in multiplayer games. So, one question (it was four, but then I saw the FAQ :P ).

Do you do multiplayer games here that just use SMAC (and that are hopefully noob-friendly)? Most of the ones I've seen have been using SMAX. I'm attempting to procure SMAX, but it's not going especially well, given its increasing scarcity.

Most players do seem to prefer smax but yes there are smac only games from time to time.

The best way to get a game now is to actively pursue one-- probably by startin an "I want a game" thread and then being active in getting it started. (proposing the ruleset in the initial post and perhaps even getting an experienced CMN to agree to set things up for you
