Is People's Republic of China viewed on the West in any peculiar way? Because I'm starting to get an impression it's sth along the lines of: "My gosh, sooo many people there, it must be fun".

No, I detest autocratic communism. I just detest namby pamby transnational progressivism even more.

Lal is what Yang would be if he was too wimpy to be Yang.

Yang is what Lal wishes he could be deep down where he won't admit it even to himself.

Yang is my second least favorite of the original faction leaders. Lal is my least favorite.

And like a good US conservative he accuses anyone he doesn't like of being a commie without giving reasons!

Atrocities commited by the PCR are no secret. However many people benefit alot from chinese slaves and so little is done. Average americans(read:idiots) may think that, however.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

I did not mean to imply Lal was a communist. I called him a wannabe totalitarian, but not a communist. Lal needs no more be a communist than Tsar Nicholas II was.

I called Yang a communist. I wasn't aware that the label was open to dispute any more than to identify Morgan with plutocracy or Zakharov with technocracy.

It was by no means my intention to hint that Americans are uneducated, I honestly started to suspect we get a different sort of news. Just hoping that PCR's robust economy or another commerce pacts don't diminish the true story.

But if they don't, I'm even more surprised at people praising Yang for what he advocates (which is, pretty much, a bit refined version of the current Sado-Maoism). I figure either trolls or, ekhm, young naive people with no potential to be bookworms.

I like Yang for his creepy quotes and the feeling of sheer power gained by a well executed ICS. In one recent PBEM I conspired with Laz to acquire Air Power by 2150. By 2160 Laz had increased his population from 90 to 200 via a horde of 40 missile needlejets. An unstoppable blue tidal wave that swept across the map. Its good to be bad.

Just to make one thing clear - there's yet to be such thing like 'autocratic' communism. Communism is totalitarian, the difference being like between a bomb and nuclear bomb. 'Namby pamby transnational progressivists' would be quickly your people of choice, nabvrimn, if you failed to love Big Brother as much as he wanted you to.

                          And by Frankychan:

Come on now, Lal's hypocrisy is astounding. He's all about the U.N. Charter so long as he's the one up top.
Where are these psychological profiles come from? I don't have such info in my datalinks.

                            Personal bias

One of my favorite things about SMAC is that most leaders can be read two ways. Lal is both an enlightened humanitarian and a backwards fool trying to stultify Planet with the political mistakes of Earth, while ensuring hes at the top. Deidre and Miriam are either fanatical zealots for their causes, or rightfully concerned about the cost for humanity of overdevelopment/the destruction of traditional morality by "progress".

Does Zak do human experiments? Depends if hes your enemy or not.

Yang is always Yang. Amoral, ruthless, unable to be trusted past the point where you are not useful to him and threatening.

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

One of Lal's hypocritical instances is the fact that he get's bonus votes in the Planetary Council. I like to call it "juicing the vote".
