  • Crossfire "CPU not supported"

    I run a windows XP, 2.4 ghz, 1gig ram, intel celaron processor computer.

    I bought the original alpha centauri game over what seems to be over 5 years
    The game has never had any problems starting up on my computer, except for when i downloaded it's update off the web.

    Anyway, about a year ago i bought the crossfire expansion pack in the hopes that i could, well play it.
    Upon starting the game i get the intro video, then the selection screen for either Crossfire or the original.

    Upon clicking crossfire the screen turns black and it states my CPU is not supported, click OK or Cancel neither of which continue the game and just cut to desktop.

    I have done quite a few searches on the internet to this issue including searching these forums, but the most i got was a quicky help guide on windows 2000

    I dont understand why the original can work but the expansion doesnt, shouldnt that be the other way around??

    If anyone could help me on this problem, please help

    You have checked this thread ?

    especially point 34)

    Once the file is open in Notepad, change:

    ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=0

    to

    ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1

    With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

      I'll try that, and if it works.
      I'll feel like hugging someone
      2 years roughly of having to look at the box of it in my cupboard never played always brought a tear to my eye.
