      Killed both Yang and Santi at 2200, but looking at my tech im dismayed that i'm still only heading towards orbital spaceflight! lousy wimpy pk's, especially since Zak is now at a tech per 3 turns (double my rate despite my higher income and less techs !!) and beating me to most techs and still skimming off the SPs, recently grabbing the super collider

      6900 tech cost vs zaks 1900 however we're both tech per 3 turns now after another popboom. Considering breaking pact and killing him.

          The numbers are suprising for me a bit, but it must be +2 research that Zakharov has. AI research is boosted only 2 times. The rest is difficulty level.

          Pacted with Zak? That's interesting, I never got even Treaty.

            Well 2228 and Zaks now my 1 base submissive, his tech rate was simply too fast for me to leave him alone after he nabbed the theory of everything in a base which already housed the supercollider and he was just a few turns from getting the universal translator.
            I could transfer all my bases to him and prob get 2-3 techs per turn rather then a tech per 2-3 turns but it doesn't really seem to be keeping with the spirit of things so i'll push on for transcendance with my 11k and rising tech costs (only upto matter compression ! lol).

            Dee has declared war on me which is an annoyance, demon boil native life + 50% neural amp + 50% defense bonus + sensor/base are a damn nightmare to kill with -10% planet !!! Instead just mind controlling the weak sea bases she has near me and destroying any troops she tries to land.

            Forces left over from killing Zak are getting ready to jump across onto miriam who doesn't have fusion power yet and so will be promptly slaughtered.

            Despite first thoughts it would appear a much earlier aggressive campaign would result in a far quicker victory then most other conditions.

              I plan to try this one next and that will be my approach-- trying to kill people from the outset.

              But from the water scenario one I am intrigued if any of these folks have interest since victimiazing them for cash could be good

                Mart mentioned they did, but not as much. My AI in this version certainly didn't get anywhere near vast amounts, a few thousand at most.

                    Heh good luck trying to get your probes close enough, i think i destroyed over 150 AI synth probes that game.
                    Phew eventually transcended at a decent 2238

                        Any particular observations regarding the units in this scenario.
                        AI had no options "emphasize" in the editor. And yet, would you say, that it built more AAA units? more tacticals?
                        How about defense +50%? I think it is quite a lot already, would even more, 65% give more difficult play?
                        Between AI, the defense bonus made maybe more difficult for one AI to conquer another? I guess no AI faction killed any other?

                          I'd say neither really, there was some AAAs present, but nowhere near enough to suggest actively building and i think only Miriam had some rotor choppers which she used quite effectively to take out a few of my noodles on one occasion.
                          Late game Dee had a decent amount of shard noodles but she was the only one to make effective use of air power, although this maybe an unfair comparison with me taking out Yang+Santi early and Miriam stagnating in tech.

                          I think the +65% would make the early game extremely hard, especially if you expand quick like i did and have both Yang and Santi declare war on you. The downside of not expanding quick then is having Morgan push out and vastly limiting your space. You still encounter alot of losses early game fighting with gatlings / missiles against plasma with +50% and usually higher morale and maybe sensor/rocky/base. If you don't manage to research/steal one of these techs and have a high enough industry to churn them out, especially since i had santi escorting her rovers and units with about 5 artillery you are effectively screwed. Late game though the technology advantage of attacking over defending still shows its strength.

                          Well early on Morgan did manage to take several Hive bases, i'm not sure why Morgan played alot more aggressively then Yang but once the Hive actually switched to military they did overrun and recapture those bases (and leave me facing a heck of alot of troops!!) but apart from that i think the usual AI ignorance of not being able to establish a beachhead coupled with the defense bonus made actual fighting between them scarce.
                          Both Zak and Dee had transports (or plenty of IoDs) but never bothered to put anything in them.

                          I think to bring Miriam into line with the others she definately needs a bridge by which to attack zak or some energy sats (not alot, maybe 6-8) although we can see how she fares in Flubbers game first.

                          The build pods/formers worked nicely as usual with each faction fully expanding to fill all available space on the continent and nearly all squares terraformed.

                            And I got crash - tactical scramble in 2230...
                            Either find solution for it in my faction, or will have to make changes via scenario editor.

                              The only thing that comes to my mind is the limited space Morgan got. Hive could expand longer and in fact until in my game PK were in Yang's way, Hive was not that aggressive. However, due to good cooperation Morgan was strong enough to hold. He switched bases with Hive on a regular basis. Quite funny actually, I always knew if Hive took over Morgan base, it would be retaken soon.
